I have a 2002 4runner with manual a/c controls. Would like to install the automatic controls. This way I can get the outside temp. display. Has anyone done this?

if you want the outside display, why dont you buy the chromatic mirror with temp and compass display....cheaper and easier...to tell you the truth the climate control isnt worth it ive had both, and would prefer manual since its all i use now even though i have the auto climate controls

I installed one of the chromatic mirrors in the Camry a few weeks ago -- my wife loves it! Check out the thread.

I agree with everything said. Electrochromatic mirror is a lot more useful and will give you the outside temperature reading. I have the mirror and the climate control. I love the mirror and it is very effective at eliminating glare. I would definitely not be able to live without the mirror but I think I could live without the climate control. I keep on fixing the controls on the climate control. The only problem I do have is the temperature reading on my mirror 2 degrees off from the reading on the screen. I do not know which one is accurate! Definitely go with the mirror!

i installed a mirror on my 2000 4runner, and it was easy...and i loved it.......well worth it, and so functional...

I could not find a Toyota Part number for a 2002 4Runner. I do not think there was an option for the mirror in the 2002 year. I was not able to get it on my 2003 Sport through Toyota. I bought a Gentex mirror that was generic with all of the wiring. The dealer tried ordering one through Toyota but it got rejected. Here is the mirror I got for my truck. I love it and it works great. Exactly like the one Toyota offers!

Follow the link to the thread in my earlier post. It has information on where to buy the mirror -- rather than a Toyota part number, I got the Gentex mirror. (Mito makes the Toyota mirror under the Gentex brand name.)

i've read somewhere that it would be big $$$ to convert it to the auto system (i thought about that too)....if outside temp is the main feature, then i also say go with mirror....
