its white, the power is red.
I pulled the wires out of the floor and laid it under the carpet, then i just tapped into the ground wire.

i plugged the grommets with the end of some old bic pens to keep water out if im offroad

I didn't end up taking any pictures but it looks identical to your pics besides me tapping n to the floor board wire and just laying it with the other bunch there under the panel. Router the wire the same way too.

Just completed this mod along with the Homelink mirror mod (since they are in the same area). I have a Sport without running boards, so I just tapped into the A pillar. Like others have said, there is a white ribbon wire with three wires; I cut in between each of the three wires to seperate them and then used a 3M wire tap to connect the middle wire. Love the way it turned out....this is really something that Toyota should have done from the start. Thanks for the write up!

next mod im trying to find out is how to have the dtrl on with headlights, any ideas?

mine are plastic in front closest to sunroof, metal into the roof from the sunglass backing. The back of the sunglasses piece is what i broke. Let me know what part you may need, i have an extra console in my garage because i broke the metal clips and couldnt get it to sit right. Depending on what ones you broke i may be able to send you my old one for parts.

you have to pull down the side near the windshield that's where the clips are the side closest to the moon roof has plastic hooks it just hook onto the headliner

The metal clips on the back of the sunglass area broke on mine. Its an 03 so 10+ years of California heat baking the plastic holding the clips ultimately will weaken anything. I couldn't get the clips free, you can because you have done it multiple times which lessens the width of the clip even if very minor.

Mine are plastic clips closest to the windshield. Then there was these two posts in the middle that attached to the back of the sunglass holder. That is what was holding it in when i was pulling on it. Finally it came out. Getting it back in was a PITA because i had to get those posts lined up without being able to see where they were.
Anyway, i was able to tie into the A pillar wiring on with that white ribbon wire. If it hadn't been for the issue with the console i think i could have done it all in about 15 minutes....lol

After looking into this for a while I've got a few ideas that may work, though I have not tested them on the vehicle.
I dont want to confuse anyone with the more complex methods right now so lets look at the simple one wire connection method.
Find the light green with red stripe DRL wire going into pin 12 of the DRL flasher relay which is located on the back side of the driver side junction box.
Connect ignition based 12V+ to this wire. You can get that from one of the fuses on the same driver side junction box.
That really should be it, but understand that your DRLs will be on anytime the ignition is on.

i like the thought of headlights and dtrl at the same time, my only thing is will this affect the turn signals

i dont plan on taking my dash apart again anytime soon so i might look and see if i can do this at the headlights some how

Doing it at the lights themselves is when you will run into issues with the turn signals. On vehicles that have stand alone DRLs you can do the mod at the light, but since ours uses the turn signals as the DRLs you should do the mod at the DRL Relay/ECU box.

So I did this version of the map light mod. I noticed that when I hit unlock they come on but not as bright as it used to be. I click it and it instantly brightens up. So I'm not sure what is going on. I'm attaching photos of what I mean. Also I broke one of the little plastic parts we're attaching the wires too. Anyone know the part number of where I can get one online not to pay $5K to the dealership?
