Map lights don't come on with door opening?

Shouldn't my map lights be coming on when I open the door, etc. My dome light does this, but map lights don't. If I manual press the map lights, they come on normally.

Ideas?

Unless you do a MOD, those map lights won't turn on. Search map light mod. Only lights that come on with door opening are the dome lights (when set to door)/key light/and 4 door courtsey lights.

Did this mod a month ago and very happy with the results. I added the switch to the center console next to the DAC button. Plus I added LEDs to the map light so now I have LEDs to the 2 domes, all 4 doors, and now map lights. It is bright inside my 4runner now. Install wasnt too bad considering I have no car electrical knowledge. J.A.'s instructions made it easy to install. Thanks J.A!

04 4runner map light turning on by itself

Hi Guys, I need your help. 2 days ago, my front left map light all of a sudden started to lid on by itself without me pressing on it. I guess there is the problem that my alarm started to sound after locking the car. My alarm started to sound after locking it, so I figured its the front map light. The quick fix to that is to remove the dome fuse out of the box to stop the alarm. What is a quick fix? Has anyone come across this problem?Need help. Thanks
