Scan gauge looks good. I didn't realize that mirror wasn't OEM. Mine has what appears to be the same exact mirror.

Nope, not OEM. Pulled mine out of an Infiniti. We pulled some more out of various makes too, all the same mirror though. There's one with compass and temperature but I've heard the temperature isn't very accurate.

Hmm, I guess so. I have been running 1.25" spidertrax since before the TBU.

Haha that'll make them clear. I was running spacers for a bit with them but I hated how much stuff the extra width kicked up.

Thanks man, been running around getting some paint quotes. Once the insurance money is it, it's my first priority.

Mounted the scan gauge with some cut up roof flashing and ran the wire through the radio valence. Really happy about location as its not too far out of sight.

The mirror is killer, I'm surprised how much I like it. Just got back from work and the auto-dimming makes everything so much easier. The mirror itself is a little bigger too, makes all the difference.

The temperature probably depends on where you mount the sensor. My sensor was mounted to my stock bumper and it was accurate. I had to relocate it after my AOR bumper and it collects heat in it's current location when I'm parked, but is fine when I'm moving and the air flows through it. That mirror must be a dealer added option for different manufacturers. Good to know!

After the last wheeling trip, I figured I should start monitoring my temperatures. I have yet to get a transmission cooler and I was a little nervous at a few points during the trip. I'd also like to monitor a few other things so it was time for a Scan Gauge.
I also took a recent trip to the local Pick-N-Pull and got an auto-dimming mirror with compass. One of the guys I was with had one and so I figured, why not. Happy with the overall size of the mirror as it is bigger, plus the auto-dimming and compass features will be nice to have.

I feel your pain on the ball joints. We had each side fail on our 99. This is before I had really started reading up and learning about 4Runners. Safe to say I've learned my lesson with mine.

No pictures of the install itself although it was really easy. We cut down some roof flashing to side and double sided taped it to the dash and to the scan gauge. Make sure not to get some really thin stuff though, the flashing we used was 22 gauge if I had to guess. It's all less than $1 too so if you mess up, it's no big deal. The scan gauge is held to the flashing and the flashing is held to the dash by some heavy duty double sided tape. We then routed the cord behind the radio bezel and sanded a little port right below the scan gauge.

Right on. So for power, I see you are running behind the bezel. How did you go about hooking into power? I have not done too much electrical based mods.

Seals, O-Rings, and Crush Washers

Went by the local Toyota Dealership and ordered a fair amount of parts.

(1) 90301-67004 O-Ring Engine Cooler
(4) 90915-YZZD3 Oil Filters
(1) 12157-10010 Drain Plug Gasket
(1) 90341-24014 Straight Screw Plug
(1) 90430-24003 Gasket
(1) 90311-47013 Driver side Output Shaft Seal
(1) 90311-47027 Pass side Output Shaft Seal
(1) 90430-12031 Gasket
(1) 90341-12012 W/Head Straight Plug
(1) 16401-31520 Radiator Cap

These parts are for a general tune up and some old seals that I noticed were leaking. During this, the radiator and transmission will be flushed since both are due. I'll be doing an oil change since I'm coming up on one as well. A transmission cooler will also be ordered.
My radiator cap was sheared on the bottom and therefore the top hose wouldn't properly pressurize. Since switching it, my water temp has been running 4-6 degrees cooler.
I noticed a small leak out of the Engine cooler as well so 90210-22001 Washer Seal Engine Cooler and 90301-67004 O-Ring Engine Cooler should take care of that.

Tuesday, I have some more parts arriving.

The Scan Gauge just plugs into the OBD-II sensor under the steering wheel and yes, I just ran it behind the bezel. I used a file to run the wire.
You don't need to worry about powers, grounds, or anything of that sort. It's pre-wired and is just a plug and play. It turns itself on and off with the ignition.

Konig Countersteer Offroad Wheels

Picked these up today on a Craigslist score. They're more dirty than anything. They should clean up nicely and I'll be painting them. Definitely feel lighter than my current Land Cruiser wheels which is nice. Starting to fill the garage. Have bumper, skids, wheels, Tundra brakes, and many more misc. parts.

Solid short list of wheels. I almost threw down some money to pick up some of those SCS Ray 10s. Those things are sweet. I would be happy with SCS Ray 10s, SCS 5-stars, or Konig 5 stars.

I really like the look of the Konigs and weight. Plus they clear the TBU without wheel spacers. That being said, if I were to pay retail for a wheel, I'd probably end up with some SCSs. Just not sure on which ones which explains why I haven't pulled the trigger yet. For the price I payed on these, I'm more than happy with my decision.

No winch in the bumper. I've never come across a time I needed it and I never wheel alone. If I need help with recovery, I'll just use a tow strap off someone else.

This is the first time I have, I always get jealous scrolling through the classifieds and seeing all the good stuff out west. I'll be painting them some shade of grey, not sure on what color exactly. I've been looking at the Duplicolor graphite wheel paint with some gloss clear coat though.

Nice wheels! Be careful painting them. Painted wheels never seem to hold up as good as a powdercoat or the OEM finish. Wish I could score some good stuff on craigslist around here...
