I had a co-worker that ran them on his Dodge 3500 cummins dually. For the amount of off-road abuse, lots of heavy towing, and the gobs of torque that truck had, both he and I thought they held up well. They worked real good in the north Taos mud and snow at his ranch. He would see about 35k miles before changing them out for another bighorn set. I would think that a 4runner could almost see double that due to the fact that his dodge probably weighs twice what a 4runner weighs.

I have a set of them, ive only had them on for 3 days though. So far they are not too loud, and they handle pretty good on road. However, i did notice they are a bit stiffer than the tires that were on the car when i bough it (michelin ltx as). I assume this comes from the D load rating. Butg overall I am very pleased with them for the price.
EDIT: The shiping weight was listed as 51.9 lbs, and i confirmed it at with my bathroom scale, which read 52 lbs.

did u happen to measure ur fender height b4 and after? im curious how much taller im gonna be with these, i currently have 265/75r16 w 3/32

I had a set of 285/75/16 Maxxis Bighorns on my Jeep Rubicon LJ, for about 8-10K miles, before I sold the Jeep. They were more quiet and grippier both on and off road, compared to the 245/75/16 Goodyear MTRs that came on the Jeep stock. Still noisier than any A/T or street tread, but you should expect that with any M/T style tread.
I think the rubber compound is on the softer side. The Bighorns showed noticeable wear in only the short time I had them, and I had a full set of 5 tires that I rotated twice during the time I had them. They were inexpensive at the time. Using a set of 5 tires, I think I would have gotten around 25-30K max life out of them.
I would not use them again for a daily driver, street-oriented vehicle. If using them on a trail rig (75%+ offroad), I'd consider them.

Well when I was doing my tire research last year, (and research I did, took me about 3 months to figure it out) I ended up going with BFG. Performance was not a concern since I knew they would do the job when I wanted them too. The only thing I was worried about was tread life on the soft rubber muds. Went with BFG's since a lot of people were running them and getting decent tread life out of them. I didn't want to drop close to a grand on some tires I would need to replace in 25k miles.

Those are the only 2 MT's in that size that I know of. I am looking for something aggressive.

that depends...a few tire shops around here wanted between $236-260 a tire installed for the BFG's I can get em from tire rack for $189 a tire plus like $125 for shipping, then an additional $120 for mount, balance, and alignment. I can get the BigHorns local for around $170 a tire plus the $120 for install and alig.

But I have been searching about retreads and might just go with a set of 265/75r16 (32.2's) for about $600 shipped and istalled
Really want 33's but damn, new tires for $98 a piece is hard to pass up!..............oh and B4 any one asks.....
