On To The Build:
Below is what I wanted at first, it ended up being crap, and I came across what is now my 4runner.


Here's the first picture I have of my rig.



Yes, it came with all this on, it was a great find and I remember telling my dad I would probably never want to do anything else too it (that was before I found this site...needless to say, my thoughts changed.) Being from Wisconsin, it has slight rust on the undercarriage, but nothing major.

First thing I did was tint the windows to match the back. And then I removed the running boards.





Unfortunately, it didn't come with a spare tire. It looked as though someone had previously cut the spare tire holder. After searching around I came across a stock six-spoke wheel. Another buddy of mine had the exact size tire I had and even same tread pattern, Mudawg I believe. I purchased that from him and now had a full size spare.

I watched a friend of mine tint his Tahoe's tail lights black with Niteshade. I asked him if he cared if I did it to mine and he said no. So I went and purchased some sand paper and a can of Niteshade. I removed the tail lights and lightly sanded them. Then did about 3 coats of Niteshade. The number of coats you use determines how dark they get. Finished product...I thought they turned out great. I had a bunch of friends ask me if I bought covers.

Here she is all cleaned up. The rack is off because we are leaving for Chicago tonight...family trip and she won't fit in the garage with the rack on :thumb3:

I'm having the hardest time deciding what I wanna do for the front lift. Basically, it's between Tundra front, OME, and Eibach Coilovers. I would consider the Toytec Coilovers but they're a bit out of my price range. I plan on getting an aftermarket bumper within the next year and currently have Budbuilt front skid. So any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated.


I decided I'd post in here instead of making a new thread or bumping one of my old ones, because if anyone in the future has as hard of time as I am, maybe they could come here and see what I went with and maybe all the info together would help someone out.

If you are planning on getting a bumper in the near future, I would DEFINITELY recommend getting the Toytec coilovers. You will need that adjust-ability down the road to compensate for the extra weight of the bumper.

I own both, 350z and 1998 4Runner. In all honesty I'm much happier with the 4runner. These trucks are really solid even compared to the 350z. I love your rig! Nice catch.

I own both, 350z and 1998 4Runner. In all honesty I'm much happier with the 4runner. These trucks are really solid even compared to the 350z. I love your rig! Nice catch.

A little update..just sold my brush guard for $225. I think I'm going to go with the Toytec coilovers over the tundra set up. So I'll most likely be purchasing them within the next few weeks.

So I was reading on the forums I saw that thread about the drivers side floor mat being wet. It was caused do to the wire going around the grommet instead of through the grommet. My buddy and I had installed my wiring for my amp and everything and sure enough we had gone around the grommet, I also checked my floor mats and they were slightly damp. So that was my project for today. It seems quite simple, but my amp being all the way behind the rear seats meant I had to take up all the paneling and what not which is no fun. All I did was slightly cut a hole in the grommet and then slid the wire through. I still have to seal it, but that's no biggie.

When you go to college you better major in something that earns a lot of $$ or your standard of living will actually drop when you have to provide for yourself one day ... :spider:

It is a beautiful truck though. I don't get why the 350Z you posted and the one with the pictures look exactly the same, rims and all. Are those pics from the old owner?

Thanks man, that means a lot coming from you. I've read through your build thread multiple times and you've got such a beautiful rig and have been a major inspiration for the things I've planned to do. (That sounds a bit cheesy haha) I'm definitely blessed to come from a good family and to get this as my first car, and I'm definitely thankful for it. But I've got a lot of friends get brand new $30,000 dollar cars and it's just ridiculous.

As for the 350z I have no idea? I dont think it's the same car but it's kinda funny though.

I figured that out pretty quickly. After I buy my coilovers, I'll have spent over $1000 on just three things, tint, sound system and coilovers. All out of my pocket which I'm pretty proud of.
