Hope I didn't miss this already going up...

A mechanic friend sent me this link, seems cool, but very overblown on advantages. It's only a 5MPG boost and ~27HP...

How does the 2L-T compare?

if i was gonna do a swap it would be to a strait 6 diesel like that guy did in greenland? or somewhere over there. gets like 35mpg with 44x18 inch tires! hell yea! it will take a lot more than 27hp's over my 22re for me to think about a swap anyways. plus i have got 26mpg with my 22re before.... just once... but i did it ;-D

A waste imo. He claims to get 160 HP... with a few mods to the factory 22re you can get 160hp and probably close to the same in torque. In my mind, an engine swap isn't worth while unless you can get over 200HP and 250TQ. Anything less and it's more cost worthy to just beef up the stock 22re or 3vz.

Pretty Interesting. How reliable is that engine vs a Toyota though? I recall when diesel used to be so cheap, this might have been even more awesome.

keep in mind for less than 1000$ you can put a chevy 350 into a 4runner. and for another 500 you can get a power pack with heads and cam and intake. i know its not as nice for MPG and submersible but if power is a factor the cost to power ratio is far
