Metal Tech or ShrockWorks Sliders ????

I'm going to purchase a set of sliders.

But I cant make up my mind on which one. Both are price very similar. Both look good.

Metal Tech:
Pros
-Protect frame rails aka rub rails
-Rear kick out to push your body away from a obstacle
-Direct Bolt on ( No drilling holes)
-Solid construction
-Can be used as steps
-works with KDSS
Cons
-Heavier than the Shrockworks
-about a $70 more shipped than the Shrockworks

ShrockWorks:
Pros
-Protects the body panels
-Lighter
-Can order in black textured powder coating
-Solid construction
-Works with KDSS
-Cheaper by $70 shipped than the Metal Tech
Cons
-6 to 8 week lead time
-Need holes to be drilled into the frame

Please share your opinion and experience with your slider ... Thank you

I narrowed my list down to MT OPOR vs Shrockwork.

MT's were have tapered front end, bump out and on the shelf and now on the truck. Shrockworks quoted me 12 weeks, if you were told 6-8 after the group buy was just placed im :suspicious:

how did the MT's affect your rig ??? Do you feel them weighting you down ???

I just installed Shrockworks sliders last week. Workmanship perfect, great fit. Only downside is lead time, which was 3 months.

I have them, love em. I could just barely feel the weight. Now it's unnoticeable. It will save you in shipping costs if you purchase bare steel. Also mine shipped the next day.

No issues with durability, they have been slammed on the trail and work great with the Hi-lift.

FWIW, I only had to drill one hole to mount my Shrockworks sliders on the passenger side.

Very pleased with my Shrockworks. They make great steps and hopefully even better sliders. Only one hole to be drilled here as well. My only gripe is having to use the handle nuts in order to secure it to the frame. With so many threaded holes in the frame it seems they chose to use every non-threaded hole.

Sub'd. I'm in the market too and have been eyeing the Metal Tech trail edition sliders myself, but I do have some reservations about some of the design features. A kickout in the rear is a must for me though.

The first concern is the open body. Where I currently live salt is used on the roads during the winter and even though they're powdercoated on the inside as well, the build up of salt, water, and mud worries me for rusting.

The other conern is the mounting style to the frame. The mounts don't wrap around (or sandwich) the frame; it's just a flat plate. I'm not saying that isn't enough for strength, but others have gone to a wrap around mounting design. It just seems like it would be stronger to me. Just my 2 cents.

Weight has been a critical concern in all my mods, however it became apparent all good sliders weigh just over 100lbs . . . Period.

No holes to drill, everything matched up exactly, KDSS bracket worked great, installed in less than an hour with two guys. Unlike others, front end of tube tapered similar to Rocky's . . . Seemed liked a no brainier option.

Sealed and protected with Line-X.

I've got Shrockworks on 4th and 5th Gen. The 4th Gen installs differently than the 5th Gen and I don't recall having to drill any holes to install on the 5th. Solid as a rock, no pun intended. The only downside is the ridiculously long lead time. I wonder if they realize the sales they are losing because they don't keep a couple of sets on the shelf.

[MENTION=103699]lipek[/MENTION], are the backs of the box shaped bar that goes the length of the sliders open or is that bar completely sealed? In other words, can dirt and stuff build up in it?

They are fully boxed in and no dirt will go in them

Also MT told me that only their MT Trail Edition sliders would fit my Trail and OPOR would not, I don't know how true that is

MT OPOR and MT Trail, both options for om MT. Trail is a finished product powder coated inside and out. I was concerned when seeing various scuffed powder coated parts on the forum just from delivery. Wanted to go a different route given sliders are going to be scratched period.

Main reason for the OPOR choice was the dimple plates (I have kids) and the unfinished option. We acetone dipped the OPOR's, scotch grinded them, re dipped, applied etching primer, then a high quality PPG primer before Line-X. A process used on the M1 tanks before coating with Line-X. Like the Trail version the OPOR is completly enclosed, so really no place for interior corrosion.
