Metal Tech or ShrockWorks Sliders ????

Some thoughts about wrap around frame mounts. A few years back a buddy of mine used Tork Lifts to mount his slide in camper in a full size truck. Unlike bed mounts this certainly seemed more secure. While traveling through Utah he got into what most would consider a fender bender. Unfortunatley the frame mount system was actually strong enough to damage the frame of the truck . . . Major damage.

I don't know if it's fair to draw a straight comparison, however I'd prefer those bolts securing the slider break before risking damage to the frame of a relatively light truck. Quarter panels cheaper and easier to repair than a frame, and ultimately won't risk the long term integrity of the truck.

That said . . . Haven't heard of anyone yet on the forum that broke them.

After reading a lot of info, I put in an order for Shrockworks two weeks ago. I knew it would be awhile when I ordered, and they told me I could expect them mid-April. I don't have a problem waiting so it's all good.

Anybody have any experience with White Knuckle Off Road Products

A good number of people have the WK sliders on their FJ Cruisers, and they really like them. I like the fact that you can specifically order them to be made with DOM tubing. They look pretty stout and I am very seriously considering them for the TRDP of mine that will be showing up in the next few days. I will not wait 6-8 weeks for Shrockworks. The Shrock stuff is amazing, and very well built, but rock sliders are so important for me to have on ASAP, the wait is a bit much for me.

I just ordered a set for BAMF. Awesome custemer cervice and they have a lot of options. I will post pics of the sliders and how they fit as soon as i get them.

Wow MT must've just came out with those TE OPOR sliders, they did not have them on their site during thanksgiving. I would personally stay away from linex on the sliders, especially if you're planning to use them as intended

I have WhiteKuckleOffRoad sliders on my 14' TEP w/ KDSS. Cant be any happier. Fitment is perfect, craftsmanship is amazing and customer service is awesome.

Correct! Sometimes he runs one day sales(25% discounts). You just have to check his website constantly or email him constantly. Lol

I'm going to the shop in a couple of weeks to have him mock up the plates for bolt on. I've seen his work and it's great! Plus he does all his own pouder coating.

+1 for OPORs (S/E primed and rattle canned with rustoleum bed liner. )

Spared me a bit more impact,on the passenger but may have also enabled the roll...either way, the rigidity is proven and I'll be reordering for my 15.

I recently installed the OPOR sliders and have an input for your to think about. If you plan on using the sliders as a hi lift jack lifting point, expect the sliders to bend. After installing, I tested the sliders in my driveway and ended up bending them to the point where they contacted my door before getting the tires off of the ground. I asked MT about this and they recommended using some self tapping bolts on the mounting plates. I took it a step further and had some tabs welded to the mounting plate that fit under my frame and the put self tapping boltes into the tabs. This reduced the bending significantly but they still bend.

Since I want my sliders to hold up if I have to use them as a jacking point, I wish I would have spent the extra money and got bud built beefy sliders. Bud even advertises "no bending" on their website. I'm fairly confident my OPOR slider will support the weight of my vehicle but wish I had bud built.

With that said, let me know if you want to buy my OPOR's! Lol. Also, I have plenty of pics that explain what I'm talking about. Let me know if you want them uploaded.

Wow! That is crazy! I would indeed like to see some pics if you can upload them. I am considering the OPOR sliders currently. So are you saying that the outer tube of the sliders bent upwards to the point where it made contact with your doors?

This is the clearance now that I had some steel tabs and self tapping bolts attached to the mounting plate to help prevent it from bending. I don't have any pictures of the clearance I had before trying to use the sliders as a jack point.

I'm having a difficult time believing your sliders only had a single bolt at the top, is it just the angle of that photo?
