Meth Injection Pump Failures??

Short story I put water meth injection on the 4Runner a few years ago. I love it, allowed me to add a lot of power. However I just put the FOURTH pump in due to bearing failures. I decided to rebuild this one as a spare but is anyone else seeing failures like this or have I just been that lucky?

Here's the rebuild. Luckily it was cheap with a $3 bearing but not something I'd wanna have to do once a year.

My Devils Own kit is 14 years old, mounted with pump head up in engine bay high and dry, sits for months and still works.

With the pump up in the engine bay I assume the pump is higher then the reservoir unless you're using something other than the washer bottle?

Good to know it's not the methanol eating up the pump.

Are more people not running meth injection on these things?
 
Mines on the Mitsu 4G63T, it is higher than the rear mounted OEM washer bottle but not buy much and shouldn't matter, I did add rubber washer isolators to the pump mount, I have a check valve inline attached to a single Nozzle and usually run a 60/40 Meth water mix, Its on an adjustable pressure sensor to turn on at 10PSI with a lil LED by the boost gauge to let me know when its powering it up for fine tuning, pulls strong right up to 28PSI with meth/water, I'm sure the 5vz-FE Scharged would love it. Miss the days when I'd buy 4L jugs of Methanol for 5$ each before everyone else started buying it up lol.

Gotcha, and thanks for the info. Hopefully with my latest pump all sealed up from the elements it'll last.

I mix up my water/meth using -25 washer fluid and a bottle of Heet. I get the washer fluid on sale when Wal-Mart clerances the winter stuff and usually grab it for about .50 cents a gallon. I did a bunch of math a while back on the ratio to get to 50/50 by weight and honestly it wasn't worth the difference just dumping a bottle of Heet in the -25 stuff.
 
Back in the day (2005), it is was frowned upon to use Smurf piss because it has additives, 100% Pure methyl-Hydrate is advised with distilled water 50/50 or 60/40. You can buy it for around $12/4L( probably 1/2 that in USA), we get -40 washer fluid up here and I still wouldn't run that through my vehicle.

I think my mix comes in around 60/40 from memory. 4 years with it and so far so good, but I did debate just using straight methanol and distilled water but it wasn't easy to find. I did cross reference the MSDS sheet for the washer fluid I chose and it was 38% methanol, distilled water, and color (purple) that was it.

I ran that in two of my Saturn and it never hurt anything. It was mostly to try and decarbon them. I used just manifold vacuum and with the 50cc nozzle it was a gallon per tank.

I've only used Boost Juice spiked with HEET and my pump is fine after 3 years. Maybe that has something do with it? It's a Snow Performance kit.
