Method for putting in 3inch lift WITHOUT removing KDSS sway bar

Not sure if this has been mentioned. Everything I read was either ratchet straps and bar disconnects or needing two people, one to pry the LCA down, while the other installed the coil over.

I got a full Dobinson 3” lift kit from [MENTION=148378]Crikeymike[/MENTION] and knew I was going to be installing solo, for the first time, with limited tools. I knew I didn’t want to disconnect the sway bars.

I took everything off. Back out the two KDSS valves 2 turns.

I then used the factory bottle jack to provide enough clearance to remove and replace the front passenger side coil over (other side didn’t need it). I placed the base on the LCA and the top on the frame. I used a 2 x 2 in piece of wood trim to keep the bottle jack from sliding toward the CV boot.

Worked well and was extremely easy. Just make sure it’s as flush as you can get it. You could even put some wood trim at the top of the jack to secure it even more (a thin piece of trim will conform to the jack and frame, increasing your contact area).

I would just rather open the valves instead of forcing it. They are there for a reason.

Open and put the jack under the kdss piston.

I did open the valves. This was just a way to isolate the LCA while working alone. I’ve found that lifting in multiple places on a vehicle can have unintended consequences.
