Method Tacing NV Wheels: Hubcentric vs Lugcentric

Hi guys,

I am looking to purchase a set of Method Racing NV wheels for my 2006 4Runner.

I called them today to make sure that their 17x8.5, 0-offset, 6x5.5lug wheels are Hubcentric to my 106mm hub.

To my surprise, they said that these wheels have a generic 108mm bore. They told me that the wheels are "Lugcentric" and there should be no worries about vibrations.

Having owned several aftermarket wheels, I've had bad luck with mismatching the hub diameter to the wheel bore.

Yes Hubcentric rings are used to fill the gab so the wheel is on axis when it's torqued down but it's another thing to think about and is a pain if you frequently remove and install wheels. And they don't always work (plastic rings wear over time for instance).

I'm disappointed to hear that the NV wheels are not Hubcentric to my 4Runner hub and it's making me rethink my wheels choice. I know that SCS wheels, for instance, are Hubcentric which is great.

Any other wheels out there resemble Method NV that are Hubcentric?

The fact that they are not hubcentric should not be the reason why you dont buy them. How often are you planning to remove and install them?

With the proper lug nuts and hub rings, there is no issue with fitting and running these wheels. We have sold several hundred sets of Method wheels to Toyota owners over the years, and we have never once had an issue with vibrations when using our wheel fit kits. To prevent the pain in the ass issue of the rings popping out everytime you change the wheels, just use a little super glue on the ring.

Ive got NVs on my Tundra, and Double Standards on my 4Runner. No issues after heavy offroad abuse.

If you can hubcentric wheels, you are going to be looking at SCS, FN Wheels or other OE Toyota models.

As I mentioned, my Lexus GS430 experienced vibes with aftermarket wheels and there was quite a bit of trouble shooting before it was resolved.

I'm sure my experience is an anomaly but my thinking is that if I've gonna spend $1600 on new wheels and tires, it would be nice to buy hubcentric (there are quite a few aftermarket options with 106mm bores that match the 4Runner hubs)? But I sure like them Method NV wheels lol!

i thought these aftermarket wheels use e/t lug nuts to secure, i know i used them with no problem.

Yup, I will be using E/T lugs and 108 to 106mm rings if I go the Method Racing route.
