Michelin drops CrossTerrains for Latitude Tour

I just spoke with Michelin because I couldn't find my tire size listed. And their rep told me that they were dropping CrossTerrains in all sizes. Anyone else heard about this?

I can't imagine why they would drop that tire out of all of them. I see crossterrains the most on all types of SUVs. I hope that person you talked to was wrong

Me too! I love mine. Just got back from a trip to Washington, well over a thousand miles in rain, mountains etc, and to me it never felt different. Really great tires.

CrossTerrains are a great highway tire. They're perfect for SUVs that don't go off-road that are primarily used in foul weather conditions.

I got a long way to go before mine need replacing. Hopefully by then 18"s will be nothing and they won't be $230 a piece.

There's a new Latitude Tour (not LT HP) that will begin shipping from Michelin in August/September timeframe is intended to be a bit of an improvment over the (excellent IMO) Cross Terrain that it will begin replacing at that time. The new Latitude Tour is designed to be a little better in terms of how MOST SUV/Crossover owners use their vehicles -- a little quieter (CT's are VERY quiet, so this will be an accomplishment) a little smoother (ditto), and a little better wet traction. Off road type capability (CT obviously has very little to begin with) is slightly diminished vs. CT. Most CT sizes will be phased out, but some sizes (including the OEM size for the GX) will be retained for a few more years.

For now, Michelin's Web site shows both the CT and the Latitude if you search by car make/model for 4Runner.

I'm glad someone else has seen this. The Latitude tread is way different than the CT's to look at. Well it will take a while to use up the stock that's already out there so maybe I'll still be able to find some when it comes time to get new ones. They don't show availability in my size P265/70R16.

I'm pretty sure it's P265/70R16, that's the size that came with my 4Runner.

I doubt they would remove the CTs from the market. I have CTs on my GX and i have about 53k miles and seems like a loooonnngg ways till it needs replacing..:roadkill:

I'm definitely a Mich fan and love my CT's.
So upsize to P265/75R16 if they are available. They will pay for themselves in fuel savings if you do a majority of highway driving.

What's better? What kind of driving conditions etc.? Have you driven them in snow yet?
