Might be back into a 4R soon

I traded in my 2010 SR5 for a new Tundra Crewmax at the end of last year to pull a bigger travel trailer. This year I have found that we do half of the camping and wheeling that we used to do due to the trade (higher fuel consumption, less ability to get to where we want to go with the bigger trailer, etc.). While I love the truck, I put the trailer up for sale last week and it may be gone this weekend. Just so happens my buddies Toyota dealership just took in a 2013 Trail Edition KDSS today so I am going to make the trek out there tomorrow to check it out. If I like it and can work a deal I like then she might come home with me.

We will see, I am kind of spur of the moment. This site is a lot more fun than the Tundra forums anyway.

One of the off-road trailers w/ a Tepui type tent should pull very nicely behind a 4Runner. I don't own one yet, but often find myself perusing web pages...

C'mon back Brock! We are still here, making posts about tire sizes and "What's that noise when the truck is off in my garage" lol. I did get a 12 TE last year though. Even [MENTION=63951]homeyclaus[/MENTION] shows up now and again. Any we miss your thousands of pictures. [MENTION=66300]Intruder[/MENTION] is trying to take your place but he has snow in his pics instead of hot desert. Good luck with the deal and post the pics when you trade! Notice I said "when" not "if" haha. Greg.

I pulled a lifted Coleman tent trailer through all kinds of stuff when I had the 4R. I will likely go that route again, but I will check out the trailers you are talking about.

I have been talking to the sales guy I always deal with and he told me that it had a lift and stuff on it and it was taken off and put on a 2014 Trail. That is kind of concerning to me as I do not know who did the work nor the quality of it. Then again, it'll be lifted in the first couple of days anyway. Has some terrible MB wheels on it that I will have to ditch as well.

I will see what happens when I get behind the wheel. I really love the Tundra, its gonna be a tough sale.

Make them put stock TE wheels (or the new stock FJ wheels) back on it or knock a bunch off the price. Those wheels are in demand for a reason and even if you don't want them you could sell them for some decent coin. When I have my summer wheels and tires on I always get asked if I'm going to sell my stock wheels.

I got wind of it myself and was planning on going to look at it tomorrow. I live down the street from them.

I did not get to see it in person yet just pics. Im kinda bummed to hear it has had so much done to it already. Don't trust to many people working on my rigs.

Will probably still go check it over, see if shows signs of being wheeled hard or if it was just a casual trail rig or mall crawler.

Yeah, that is my hang up. Makes me want to shift gears and maybe check out a brand new one. Who knows though. Doesn't look to be wheeled hard, I am more worried about who did the work removing the lift and if it was done half assed since it was being traded in. Let me know what you think if you get out there before I do. I have some photos of it that he sent me but I do not feel like hosting them now. Not much to look at, back to stock aside from some really ugly MB wheels and some BFG's.

When you go to the dealer see Mark, he is a good guy. I know the owner of the dealership, he runs that place pretty tight. Of all the people I have sent out there over the years I have never had anyone say anything negative.
 
Will do. I gave some thought to new one as well. Just really don't like the new front end.

I will be going to look at it in a couple hours so I will let you know what I see.
 
well welcome back... I never did get a Tundra, was all set to go 2014 and then said screw that so I bought the wife a new car..... only to find myself in negotiations today for a 2012 TE:doh:
 
I've been pricing out new Crewmax 5.7FFV TRD offroad Tundras. Basically, the state of WV has this insane state tax credit that gives 35%, up to $7500, off an alternative fuel vehicle. The credit describes one version of "alternative fuel" as being capable of running on an 85% mixture of gasoline and ethanol. So, E85 counts. Considering I could probably get $28k privately for my loaded SR5 4Runner and my employee discount on the above mentioned Tundra is $37k, it would just cost me a few grand to get into a new truck after the tax credit. Truly insane. The only thing preventing me from talking to the dealer is the fact that I'm having trouble locating a white TRD offroad crewmax flex fuel tundra without Nav and a bunch of other stuff I don't want (bed liner, running boards, etc.) I also really like my 4Runner and my wife will actually drive it. I think she'd balk at the size of the Tundra.
