Yeah, that is my hang up. Makes me want to shift gears and maybe check out a brand new one. Who knows though. Doesn't look to be wheeled hard, I am more worried about who did the work removing the lift and if it was done half assed since it was being traded in. Let me know what you think if you get out there before I do. I have some photos of it that he sent me but I do not feel like hosting them now. Not much to look at, back to stock aside from some really ugly MB wheels and some BFG's.

When you go to the dealer see Mark, he is a good guy. I know the owner of the dealership, he runs that place pretty tight. Of all the people I have sent out there over the years I have never had anyone say anything negative.

I cannot say that it is no fun as I have had a blast with it. I put it in places that I probably shouldn't and it has the deep pinstripes to prove it. Biggest thing is that I find that I will not take as many trips as I used to due to the cost. I used to go camp out in Show Low, AZ at least once a month and I would have under $100 in fuel getting there and feeding generators. Now its double that (mainly due to the big ass trailer creating drag).

Not sure what my plan is gonna be quite yet. Guess I will see when I get behind the wheel. They are asking a bit more than I want to pay for the TE so that is not helping (just under 35k). They will get what they are asking, but that does not make it where I would like to be. They have a 2010 Limited 4x4 on the lot as well for about 7k less but it has 73k on it. My wife is indifferent as she is used to my projects after 7 years of me and getting new vehicles once a year. :suspicious:

I've been pricing out new Crewmax 5.7FFV TRD offroad Tundras. Basically, the state of WV has this insane state tax credit that gives 35%, up to $7500, off an alternative fuel vehicle. The credit describes one version of "alternative fuel" as being capable of running on an 85% mixture of gasoline and ethanol. So, E85 counts. Considering I could probably get $28k privately for my loaded SR5 4Runner and my employee discount on the above mentioned Tundra is $37k, it would just cost me a few grand to get into a new truck after the tax credit. Truly insane. The only thing preventing me from talking to the dealer is the fact that I'm having trouble locating a white TRD offroad crewmax flex fuel tundra without Nav and a bunch of other stuff I don't want (bed liner, running boards, etc.) I also really like my 4Runner and my wife will actually drive it. I think she'd balk at the size of the Tundra.

I can tell you from experience that your wife will not want to drive the Tundra. You likely would not want her too even if she did. Its a monster. Great truck, but its quite large.

That's funny I own a Crew Max and TE. My wife will drive my TE if she has to, but prefers the Crew Max for the more comfortable seats and power. I have the T UR D supercharger on it. They should have left the factory this way.

The hood on the 14 Tundra is 1.5-inches higher than before (for 5.0-litre Cummins :wink2 so while it was a little unnerving coming over hills and not being able to see anything before, the new Tundra will be even more a fun bit of roulette. (That's the Canadian spelling, Greg, like 'breaks' for those stoppy things behind the wheels.)

I think the footprint of the vehicle is what freaks out my wife. Her car history is Echo, 1st gen Rav4, Mini, and now the Prius wagon. She is comfortable with the 4Runner on the interstate but hates driving it around town. I think she'd probably be ok with a Tundra on the highway, but it would be a non-starter in town. I find the 4Runner super easy to drive and park thanks to the the great visibility and rear camera/rear sonar combo.

I think I've pretty well talked myself out of a Tundra, anyway. With only 3k miles a year on the 4Runner as is, the last thing I need is a new vehicle. In all actuality, I should probably swap my 4Runner for a 100k mile 3rd gen and pocket $20k.

Dude - get a 14 or else you'll be trading again in 6 months! If you start eyeing an LE over the TE take a serious look at the gx460 which can now be had for a reasonable price. Then you'll have a v8 back. Having owned a late model sequoia, I can relate to the gas guzzle and "just too big" feel of those 5.7 equipped yotas. The 4R is a sweet spot for size and efficiency. So I am in a Camry for the next two weeks. Holidays and they did in fact have to order me a new transmission. They think that a clutch pack froze up and blew the tranny apart at 4th gear. Pretty crazy, not many blown Tundra transmissions out there, thankfully it is getting fixed for free :whoo:

Keeping my ears to the street in case another TE comes by.
