really they all kind of are 22re 3.0 and 3.4. Sure as you go up they get better. Either way in my opinion they all are under powered. I think im going to do a chevy swap. The 3.4 is way to expensive for such a little power up grade. Also where are you located in WA?

yes, that's true. but underpowered, unreliable, and poor fuel economy...bad marks against an engine.

if its going to get crappy mileage, it should at least have a lot of power.

I can remember back when I had 33's and stock gears, driving a new 3.0 4runner on 33's. HUGE difference. mine pulled the tires much easier. it was terrible.

im just about dead center in the state. Yakima. about 30 miles south of Ellensburg.

My bro lives in Yakima. Im not going to do a sbc just yet since im still driving my runner to work. Im going to do a 4.3 vortec for now since i can crank 300 out of it it will do for now.

I've got Hospital Brain that might not be what he said LOL. When he worked at Selah tire he had a older blue mercedes turbo diesel. He might have had his drag truck too then. It was a Nissan hardbody with a 355 in it. Said Boys Night Out on the side of it. He used to work at Poor Boys also until Roy lost the junk yard to his ex wife. Sounds like you are definately the same guy lol. He also had a mobile mechanic business for a while. Tims Mobile Auto. He had a red early 90's chevy service truck. He looks like a 33 year old sun dried white boy like most everyone else in Yakima lol.

I even ran my Baja @ Renegade Raceway (19.2 & broke out)


as for the motor swaps....
Toyota 3.4 would be $3000+ & still be a used motor with high miles....
SBC could be done pretty cheap for a used motor (roughly 1500), but would never pass emissions....

Thus making headers cheaper, simpler & all around the best option.
+ you can run the 7MG swap to gain more HP.... next test put stock air box, etc back in in just a few min to pass inspection......

Did go sideways huh.... I only stayed with my bro for like 3 months so i wouldn't have seen them. As far as emissions go F*** those damn tree huggers:bash: my 2nd gen just passed for its last time a few months ago. So to celebrate that i cut off the cat and ran my 2.5" with a magnaflow LOL. So im not concerned with emissions now. I think if you don't have an OBD2 vehihicle you could probably get it to run clean enough to pass i would think.

they do visual inspection to be sure it has the smog stuff. Cat, air pumps, no check engine lights, etc.... & our cutoff year is 1980... (& thats not an ever changing year like in some states that say 30 years old or what ever.)

well I still haven't bought anything..... & that's mainly because I cant find anything worth putting my motor into that isn't $4000+ & I just dont have that kind of $$$$!


& NO I haven't gotten payed yet. insurance still refuses to pay me anything near the actual value of my rig. & I refuse to settle with them for 1/3 the value... they have lied on comps, sent me comps from NewJersy, Indiana, etc.... not even close to me (Idaho) where our rigs are preserved by the dry desert.

just found an 86 for 600.... but still no idea if the 4 cyl. motor mounts on the frame @ the same place as the V6 & if I could put my wiring into it, etc....

I do think that the mounts are in the same place. Yes you should beable to swap all your wiring.
