Milage per tank of gas, v8 runner

I drive the speed limit, not aggressive, all my tires are at 33-34 and check it weekly. would a 02 sensor throw any codes?

O2 sensors get about 85k miles. They are a wear item. They slowly die over time, and if they have a natural death, they usually don't throw a code. The computer performs occasional checks on these sensors, and does a slight calibration.

I'm not entirely sure if our ECMs are able to detect if the sensor is completly dead, however, if you're over 100k miles, it's safe to assume they're done. Replace them, and their cost will be over ridden after a few months of fuel savings.

Stock-averaging 320-350 a tank which is around the 16-17 mpg range with normal commute driving. Filling up at the E normally, so about 20-22 gallons.

I would try something simple as adding in some fuel system cleaner or seafoam and seeing if that helps.

Im not lifted, on stock everything and pushing 220 per tank. I dont know whats wrong. I have checked the intake, fuel system, brakes. Could it be front or rear diff? maybe transfer case?

Get your intake manifold cleaned

It is silly. I'm new here and not set out to make enemies. So let me digress and apologize.

My previous comment was an attempt to end the argument without admitting either party was right, but I can now see how my comment was condescending and I'm sorry.

You're absolutely correct that it says that in the owners manual, I switched to premium one time to see how it affected my gas mileage and there was no real difference. I'll keep using 87, you keep using 93, everybody will get along anyway.

on older cars using premium usually did not help.

These cars will adjust timing, when it senses premium fuel due to it having knock sensors etc. I track EVERY tank full and routinely see 1-2 mpg more using premium fuel while driving at hwy speeds. I have over 320 fill ups on fuelly for one of my vehicles.

I even track my rzr lol. (and yes it gets premium also)

they're 23 gallon tanks so that doesnt seem enough fuel. But you getting 205 miles a tank is odd. I just did 170 miles on a half tank.

On my list of things to do for this is clean the maf, change the spark plugs, new 02 sensors, t case fluid, rear end fluid, front diff fluid. Anything else thats short of taking the tank out or the engine out?

Using premium fuel, stock tires, headers and replaced the 4 cats with two magnaflow cats I'm getting just under 20mpg on the highway.

Yep! It's awesome! I replaced the muffler and removed the resonator. Now I need to go back and do another test to see if that changed the MPGs.

I drove mostly highway with a little traffic jam. My computer read 20mpg. The real world with full up 17mpg.

I love the 4.7L and not doing away with it yet, I want to find out what the issue is, kind of a lil concurred it type of thing, and to learn more about runners.
