Mileage Question

Just got a 2000 T4R Limited. It's above 200k. Thought about getting rid of one of the household vehicles. Sitting at 4. My wife is afraid of wearing out the 4Runner. I wouldn't mind it being my daily driver.

If it was reasonably maintained and you stay on top of it, it will not wear out anytime soon. Many on here have made 300-400k w/out major work.

Mileage depends on terrain, grade and altitude (loose 3% efficiency for every 1k in elevation above sea level). In general the 3.4 will get you about 15-16 city, 17-18 combined and 18-20 hwy just depends on the variables above. Mine gets better mileage than my gf's 330ci, woohoo! :banana:

Yeah, put some money into refreshing it and unless the previous owners were neglectful, your truck should run and run and run. And any new maintenance that comes up should be well covered by the fact that you're not having to put money into maintaining, insuring, etc that other household vehicle.

Also, this isn't a hard and fast rule of thumb, but when i look at a t4r, I Divide the odometer by three to compare it to other vehicles. So, in my estimation, your 200k 4runner would be like a Ford with 70k on it.

Mine was sitting at 281k and then she decided to slap me in the face with a failing head gasket, not blown. I fixed it, found out my radiator was the cause for over heating, it wasn't cooling enough, now I'm driving the crap out of it. Ever since I fixed it, (probably 2 weeks ago) I drove 3k on it already and everything is going well.
