Minimum lift/mods to fit 33" 285s and make the ride better?

What would that be like a 2-3" lift? do they make a 2"? or would I have to run wheel spacers or something? I'm not really looking to body lift, or jack it up 6' and put tractor tires on it. Just trying to make it nice and clean and capable for my needs.

I'm also looking to make the ride a little more cush since this runners man purpose in life is driving up to trail heads to go bike/hike/climb/fish and right now the suspensions pretty stiff and back jarring on rock fire roads like we have here. Not looking for a full on long travel kit or anything. Well I would if you want to sell it to me for $800 and a pocket full of nickels and buttons.

I'm figuring if I'm going to be switching out suspension components I might as well give her a small lift and throw some new tires on too.

My runners is a 97 and is currently stock besides the deck plate mod and a rack.

well......

There is a TON of information on lifts on this forum. Grab a cup of coffee, sit down, and read. Really. The best thing you can do is use the search feature, as this question is asked quite a bit. Personally, I would go Toytech all the way. :fro:

33s with 2 inches of lift is doable, i'd go for the Eibach5100 adjustable with 883 ome coils, rear i'd go for a 7 wrap LC coil with some 5100s as well.
883 is soft coil so is 7 wrap, after setting you should have about 2.25 lift in the front and about 2.5 lift in the back, nice little rake there for ya.

suggesting for tire would be general grabber AT2, cheap, reliable, wheels extremly well and quiet on the street. i did very hard trails with mine. Get load rateing E if they have it.

i suggest getting new wheels that has at least 1 inche less back spacing than stock(4.75) or you can get a 1 inch wheel spacer to clear the upper control arm.

Finally here is the fun part, banging and cutting. i hope you have a big hammer angle grinder and a sawzall, because you will rubb the tire on your wheel wells a little, front its mainly the stock bumper and the rear wheel well pinch weld, cut the sheet metal, pound it flat with a hammer paint it with some cheap paint call it good, rear is the same story, front and rear pinch welds sticks out about 3/4" cut it off, pound it flat and paint.

There you go bud hope it helped.

these cutting and pounding im talking about is all non cosmetic meaning you will never telll from the outside, if you don't have the ability to do so or don't have the tools to do it, im sure some member around you have some tools that can help you out, if you were close to me i'd help you takes like 20 minutes tops, easy stuff

agreed 100%
How many times can the same question be asked?
The forum must make money every time someone asks the same question lol

same amount of time someone ask you what time is it, what? you gonna tell them "go ****ing look at a clock tower?" no cuz the dude wants answer and he want them now.

So I think I'll wait for that new BOSS setup to comeback into stock, seems like what I'm looking for as far as ride quality. From the little bit of research I've done the OME setups are even stiffer then stock.

Whats my best choice for the rear?

2.5 in the front and 2.75-3 in the rear is what might work well. Or what t4r4life said if I can find so LC coils.

Minimum for me was a set of $60 CL '99 springs and a 1" home-built body lift.
Pound the pinch welds, done.
I've got Duratrac 285's.

The ride is what it is. Not bad IMO, but the duratrac's are hard to balance so it's not exactly happy at all highway speeds.

What do I look like? Big F-ing Ben. :whoo:

Hey look guys singtoe is back

So the tire upgrade is still a while down the road seeing mine are almost new. Right now my main focus is improved ride when spreading down bouncy fire roads.

I was think about it today snowboarding some choppy snow. In orders to go fast on rough terrain my legs (suspension) had to be really soft and loose. But, if I took a big hit (blast off a rock or something) I'd have to stiffen up my legs so I didn't completely bottom out my suspension (legs) and knee myself in the eye.

So is there like progressive suspension or something? So you can soak up the little bumps at speed but if you are going fast and hit a big dip or something you don't blow you suspension out?

Now that I say this out load it sounds like I want to build a rally car or save up and in 15 years have enough for a long travel kit or something.

well lets see how much mine lift cost
200 for the 5100s with ebach used
80 for the lc 8.25 wrap used
100 for the lc shocks new
20 for the diff drop new

so im in this truck lift wise for 400 bucks. and it rides damn good.

Thats awesome. If you see another set of 5100 w/eibach used let me know.

Anyone else want to throw out suspension ideas for basically a T4R Rally car?

start looking for mid travel setup online, lotta places are selling used, like tacomaworld, ttora.

Thanks dude your being super helpful for a n00bie like myself.

NP, just a warning tho it's gonna be expensive, but it's always better to do it right the first time instead of wasting tons of money upgrading and upgrading like i did. midtravel suspension is the perfect setup for expedition, moderate rock crawling and streets, it's the happy medium. i've seen full adjustable mid travel front setup with coil overs and upper control arms for around 1000$ and rear coil+shocks for around 400 used. so all together its almost 1500 bucks if you are lucky enough to find deals. and then to tune it perfectly, this is not a game.
