Sherburne national forest in Elk river has some pretty good logging roads that you can drive on. Gandy dancer is ok. It's more of a scenic drive than anything else.

Do they have a designated area for vehicles? That is pretty close to where i am at so it would be nice for like an afternoon trip

At the start of logging roads there will be a sign that says OHV vehicles and then it will tell you the distance. If you see that sign it is ok to drive on and no permit is needed.

I will have to head up there sometime and check it out. Do you or anyone else be interested in heading to appleton sometime? Maybe a saturday.

I'm always busy in the fall with hunting season starting and 2 jobs going. If something is going on in the spring then I'm all for it. Maybe some others will chime in.

Northern MN could use the business. I heard some talk about it at Memorial Day off-road rally because MN4wd puts that on. I'm no longer part of the club so I don't pay close attention. If it happens though it would be awesome. I hope they use the Soo line in the north as part of it.

Haven't decided if I'm going to Toys for Tots down in Rochester. Are you staying all weekend or just for the day? If just for the day what time are you planning on getting there. It's a good 3 hr drive for me.
I've never been there and want to check Appleton out.

Thanks for the heads up, we recently moved back to Michigan to be closure to family so it would be a bit of a drive
- Enjoy it, I have not been but heard its a good area.I'm in! I have everything stock, do we need anything special to have a good time? I am definitely a beginner looking to have some fun.

There’s bypass trails that you can take to avoid the obstacles and that way you can get to the top of the hill and watch as others either succeed or break something. It’s one of my favorite things to do. You should at least bring a strap, D-ring receiver, snacks, a fire extinguisher(I think they are required?...(make sure it’s an ABC rated fire extinguisher)), a towel, and tall rubber boots.

Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately my wifes out of town that day and I have a birthday party to bring both of my kids to. I hope to make it another time, I really want to get my rig out on a trail. Although I'm a beginner and my truck is stock, so I won't be anything too crazy!

Damn, I’ll be out of town but that sounds like a blast! We should get some annual trips planned to get some good attendance! Maybe some light off-roading and camping?
