Misfire P0300, P0302 and P0305 and loose crank pulley?

I bought a 1997 4Runner Limited a couple of weeks ago knowing it had issues. No power at all on acceleration. Above 3000rpm it does pull better. Engine codes: P0300, P0302 and P0305.

Recent work done by Toyota for previous owner:

• new spark plug wires
• Checked cam and crank position sensors - good
• Checked compression - good
• Moved coils around - no change to codes
• Suggested changing injectors next (that's when owner sold it)

Done by myself:

• Installed correct spark plugs!
• Moved coils to verify - no change
• Replaced valve cover gaskets because they were leaking badly
• Checked for vacuum leaks
• Replaced cylinder 2, 4 and 6 injectors with rebuilt ones - no big change but idling was noticably smoother
• Replaced injectors 1, 3 and 5 with rebuilt ones and replaced worn out plenum gaskets - idles even smoother now!
• Attempted to change fuel filter, but threads stripped on new one - put old (non-original) one back in - no leak, no loss, no gain

So today I removed the timing belt cover and lined up the crank and cam marks - looked close but I thought the cams were both slightly behind the crank I thought.

I moved the crank pulley a bit counter-clockwise and noticed that this time the cam pulleys didn't move! Moved it again clockwise and sure enough no movement until I moved probably 5 degrees...

So I'm really hoping this is the problem and I can fix it by tightening the bolt. Been looking on the forum for tips on that and there is some really good info of course. I love this place!

It looks like you’re on the right track - monitoring and bumping for you. Wish I had more information but I haven’t messed with crank and timing yet.
