Miss-firing

I have a 97 sr5 with 186 000km on it. I recently started to have problems with it miss-firing on cylinders 1, 2 and 3. I haven't yet got to changing the spark plugs and I don't know if they were ever done yet. I ordered them but they are not in yet. So I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so how they fixed it. Any information will be great.

When i had a misfire on my 97' I changed out the plugs, leads, still had the misfire on and off, ran some Wynns injector cleaner through the tank, still had a misfire, finally replaced the downstream O2 sensor and it cured it. Still running good, now at 393,00 kms ! I got myself an OBD2 reader from Amazon, downloaded Torque Pro App on my phone, connects with Bluetooth and you can run your own diagnostic checks.

Here's a link to the OBD2.

Plugs and wires are a good start. I would also replace the plug boots under the coil packs. They are not a high dollar item. If you replace those as well you pretty much take care of any spark related items other than the coil packs themselves.

Thats what I would do first.

How are you determining it's misfiring?
Are you using a scanner?

If not, how do you know if it's spark or fuel related?
I am using the scanner and got the codes P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303. Which is just misfire on multiple cylinders and misfire on cylinder 1, 2 and 3

Okay thanks for the information I'll change spark plugs and wires and if that's not it I'll look at the o2 sensor
