Moab in March

Prepare for the picture dump. I'm posting mainly pictures the 3rd gens since this is a 4runner forum.

Before I get too far here are the specs of the trucks that were there:
3rd Gens
TCMach - fully armored, 285s and locked rear
Black 3rd gen - no aftermarket armor, 33x12.5x15 on 3.5" backspace wheels or so, 3" suspension and 1" BL
Myself - front bumper, 285s and locked rear

1st gen Xterra
Jorgan - fully armored, 33x10.5x15, locked front

Jeeps
TJ - 2" lift, front/rear bumpers, gas tank skid, front sway bar discos, locked front, 30x9.5x15
XJ - 2" lift, ARB diff covers, home-brew gas tank skid, front sway bar discos, 30x9.5x15

Stock Trucks
Taco (1st gen)
GMC Sierra I think, plate front bumper, otherwise stock

We drove out to Moab Saturday, some during the day, the XJ and myself left around 9 pm and rolled into camp around 4 am I think.

Sunday we ran Hell's Revenge with all 8 trucks. I ran this trail last year with the TJ and XJ but we skipped all the optional stuff basically. Did a few of the harder (not hardest!) lines and some opted to do tip-over challenge and one of the easy hot tubs. Everyone *****ed out on Hell's Gate, I really thought I was going to at least try it but that obstacle has a big scare factor :hiding:

My buddy in the XJ zip-tied some truck nuts to my hitch right before we drove out, so I just rolled with it until they fell off.

Couldn't get up this line, and managed to jam my hitch against a rock really well so that was fun. I'm itching for a rear bumper now.

Dude in a TJ on 35s and ARB lockers front/rear did this steep climb in 2 tries, the TJ with us did it first try, and I couldn't get up it :dammit:

Xterra didn't want to get through this spot, which is why the obstacle has it's name, we had to hang 3 people off his bumper so he didn't roll at one point, it was sketch. He backed down it and everyone else was a little gun shy after watching that happen, so only 3 of us did it.

Pictures of the other trails to come later.

Trifecta

Time for Trifecta pictures.

Day 2 was Trifecta which is Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike and Gold Bar Rim ran together. For some reason we thought we could bail after Golden Spike and only run 2 trails. Wrong. Had to run all 3 so all of Gold Bar Rim was done in the dark. Good excuse for aux light usage ( TCMach and his rock lights) but that means no good pictures of that trail and the fun obstacles like Body Snatcher. The only damage from this run on all 6 trucks (left the Taco and GMC behind) was that the XJ smacked his muffler and had to take it off because it was clamped on instead of welded. I'll take that damage for this run, these trails are definitely some of the most challenging I've ran.

No more pictures from the rest of Golden Spike. We needed to make better time. Once we reached the top of Golden Spike, which was kind of difficult to navigate to as it's not that well marked, it was totally dark out. Break out the aux lights

That's all the pictures I have of Trifecta. We hit Gold Bar Rim at dark and navigated through the 4 mile trail in about 1.5 hours, much better time than we made the first two trails. I wish we had pictures of some of the ledges and Body Snatcher; that obstacle was sketchy but pretty cool.

Hit the Denny's in Moab at like midnight for some food then headed back to the campsite.

Sweet pics FR4R I already raided the flickr account for my own pictures haha.

Some rock light pron. This was taken on golden staircase on golden spike.

Plenty of room there and the only people around are over a hill in the other campsite.

Thanks for the Moab stoke guys, looks like you had a blast!

I'll be running Hell's Revenge and Trifecta also... Curious, what time did you guys hit the trail in the morning for Trifecta? I'd rather get a super early start and be able to run most of it in the daytime.

Glad to see you still checking in around here! We started Trifecta around 10am probably. I'd say start it at more like 7 or 8 in the morning. We went pretty slow between taking photos and spotting too, so if you run trails quickly you shouldn't have a problem finishing it in the light.

Awesome! And scarey! :D

I need some training before I get there! Training... and bumpers!

Thanks for checking the photos out. Definitely plan a trip out there sometime. It's an amazing part of the country for wheeling and for the scenery.
