Ever since i removed my lighted running boards and replaced them with the step tubes, I (as well as my wife and kids) have missed having lights on the steps. I was glad to find these Eagle Eye LED lights on ebay, for around $4 a pair shipped. These are 3w lights, which doesn't sound like much but they put out plenty of light. I originally wanted to mount one in the rocker strip, under the doors. I would have liked to have one above each step pad but that panel is right up against the metal of the body. I decided to make some small brackets and mount them to the insides of the step tube mounts. They are far enough up under the body, where you can't see them and just at the right height to cast light on the step pads. I had clipped the wires from my running boards, so all i had to do was tie them into those. They come on when i unlock and open the doors. I am very happy with these as well.

Now i can't wait to work on my other projects.....if it weren't for this stupid work stuff i could do them.
I will be adding some more reverse lighting. I will be mounting my 30" Hanma LED Light bar. I have one more little project that i am working on but don't want to give it away just yet, but yes it involves LED lights....lol
hey momo, would you mind clearing up a little confusion for me on this install? I am going to put some led running board lights on my SR5 and cannot find a definitive answer as to where to hook them up to get the appropriate functionality...
i am finding out that i need to tap into the ignition ring-light for power to have them work with the key fob so that they: come on with the dome lights when the doors are unlocked, come on with the dome lights when you turn off the ignition, turn off when the car is started or just fade-out with the dome lights when you walk away...
i have read that I need to tie into pins # 2(red?) and # 6(red/green?)
...i have not been able to find a concrete answer, please help me with: where to count pins from, if the wire colors matter (according to wiring diagrams there doesnt appear to be a red/green in this harness) or if im just way off base...
when i figure this all out i will do a propper DIY write-up on this mod, considering what appears to be a high demand for these answers and no clear instruction available...

I wish i could give you a better answer. When i bought my truck it had lighted running boards on it. When i switched to the step tubes i just clipped the wires and tied them up. Then when i finally decided to do this i was able to just tie into those wires, so it was kind of a lucky deal, but i know that doesn't help you. Gaterose (Matt) had installed some strip lights a while back, as well as a bunch of other lighting. He might be able to give you more insight on which wires are which. Sorry for not being able to help you. When it comes to wiring i am pretty ignorant. I just got lucky on these.

I have a Limited so mine is also prewired for the lights. I've seen some suggestion that the wiring is there in SR5s but is not passed through the body since it isn't needed.
From what I remember no one has ever actually looked to see if the wires are or are not there. Most look under the body and don't see them passed through so they give up.
The wiring passes through the body under the front seats (both sides, somewhat near the edge by the door) through a large rubber grommet that does not contain any other wires. The other option would be to tap into the key, dome, or door lighting.
edit - as far as wiring goes, from what I remember, the pins start with 1 on the top left (if the plug is being held such that the 'catch' is on top and the wires are on the side not facing you) and the second row also counts from left to right. I'm not sure this is true for all plugs, but it is for the ones I've had to tap.

thanks for the response guys...ill check under the seats for wiring, i already checked the boards...if that fails i guess it will be the old "cut-into-it-and-try-em-till-i-get-it-right" technique...:ybrick:

That can't be right. I have always wondered if there is a difference in the height of the fenders from the 03-05 and the 06-09.

im at 35" in the front 37" in the rear. Granted my tires are fairly run down, i am on 17s and 265/70 tires with Daystar.
I originally noticed when someone just posted new daystar pics and looks a lot higher than me. I guess my springs are sagging that bad.

Before i switched my suspension i could tell my front springs were sagging pretty bad as well. What size tire re you going to?
That's cool. It helps me know where mine is in relation to others. What size tires are you running? Do you have any BL?
