Monstaliner Cargo area

So I've had a lot of time to lurk around the forum and ponder what I want to do with my truck since getting to Afghaniland.

I want to have my cargo area lined because I've noticed my plastics and carpet have been getting chewed up by my CIF gear and motorcycle parts (oil mainly(I've even put plastic down)). So I'm I've searched around for different products and found Monstaliner.

I like the fact that this product has what they claim to be "permanent UV protection" and it doesn't have the chunky appearance that other products do.

I'm thinking about doing the cargo side panels along with the sliding tray and possibly sound deadening the floor and Monstalining over it... hell I just might do what other have done and just coat the carpet piece.

An other idea I've had is to Monstaline the fenders and rocker panels.

What are your thoughts?

never heard of it but I have had good luck with Upol Raptor DIY spray on bed liner kit. It's supposed to be the best DIY stuff on the market.

Never heard of Monstaliner, but I'd want to inspect a completed vehicle before getting it done. Also, understand that most folks don't know what CIF gear is. You want to be careful with the acronyms! Otherwise we subject the civilian world to ones like ADCOMSUBORDCOMPHIBSPAC (US Navy term that stands for Administrative Command, Amphibious Forces, Pacific Fleet Subordinate Command) and CAN-DO (Cognitive Airborne Networks for Defense Operations).:lol:

^^^Agreed, what is CIF gear? On the other hand, your very long Abbreviation is very scary! The most I had to deal with was , SAC, TAC. MAc. etc.

Central Issue Facility...odd way to refer to it. Most of us just call it our TA-50 gear.

Ha sorry I've been out here for almost 4 months so my spell out acronyms switch is on the off position. But yeah we call it CIF (Central Issue Facility) gear, 782 gear, or simply issued gear.

Any who I get to take my truck out to some of the exercises we have out in the Yuma desert so the cargo area is always loaded with interceptor body armor, ruck sacks, dirt, various supplies, and did I mention dirt. So I'm constantly having chucks of plastic scraped off. Nothing major but just enough to piss one off.

There is a build of an 88 4Runner on the forum but I can't see all the pics due to our lovely server here in the 'stan. So here is a google link to some examples of things people have done. (check out the lime green and black one lol)

Someone on the forum used something similar to line the back of the seats, and everything else. I can't find the post but it looked very similar and it wasn't my cup of tea. But yours is more for utility and I'm more concerned about looks so...

I'll post it up if I find it, anyone else know who's truck I'm referring to?

I do. I should have mentioned it earlier. It was rhino lining the rear cargo area. Some search of those terms should pull it up.

He ended up taking the truck in for three coats? Coat, shave, coat, shave. Worked out pretty good IIRC

I remember when you had your tray and carpet Line-X'd it looks really great. You did say you didn't want to do the side panels though.

How's the texture of the tray and the carpet? Can you take a couple of up close shots?

Tractor Supply...

Go to your local Tractor Supply (if you have one) and buy a horse stall mat. Then cut it to fit the T4R rear area. I bought a 3' x 4', solid rubber, half-inch thick, mat for $21. I'm away from home but that thread should have some closeups. I did NOT want to do the sides, just the floor for easy cleaning. I have a dog that sheds a lot and getting rid of the carpet fixed my problems of hair everywhere.

Sig - do you experience this with the mat you bought? I've considered getting some type of thick rubber liner for the back that I can custom cut - the stall mat looks nice but I don't want something that smells.

Yes I have experience, and yes it stinks like a rubber mat. I also had one in the back of my truck and after about 2 years of Oklahoma heat and cold it didn't stink anymore. They hold up great, but they are for horses not interiors of vehicles. I'd recommend them for truck beds, not for SUVs.

FWIW if you LINE-X the back like I did, it will smell for about 1-2 months then the smell goes away. HTH

It does have a rubber smell to it. The smell is subjective to me. This is what I did:

A. Made purchase
B. Brought home
C. Cut to fit T4R
D. Placed outside, exposed to elements for a week
E. Mopped it with Lemon Pine Sol (both sides)
F. Placed in T4R

I use my 'Runner to hunt with, and the slight smell of Lemon Pine Sol pales in comparison to various animal scents.
