A truck that rolled through our body shop last summer. I know its not a toyota but its "BIG". It was the SEMA truck for MBRP exhausts. Sory they are pics my boss took. some aren't very good.

Well, if this truck came with full set of lockers and a 4:1 transfer case, then how useless would this truck be compared to a Dodge PowerWagon or Ford F150 Raptor?? In other words, given enough space, this thing (if so equipped with lockers & a good TC) could potentially be a monster off-road. But, yeah, unfortunately, most of the time, these lifts are done for looks.

It would be useless on most trails especially in Colorado where even the larger Dodges and Hummers struggle so that Ford would really have problems but in an open area with lockers and such it would be a hoot to tear up.

Also with that interior being that nice it just wouldn't handle wear and tear real well.

If it was only done for looks, why bother with the winch? Obvisouly looks are a big part of it though.

you can only appreciate it if the owner himself did the work, when you pay someone to do it, its no longer your car.

Why does the work become less impressive if the owner doesn't do it? The same work is still being done.

Even the guy doesn't go off road - who cares? I am sure lots of people on here do mods with appearance being the prime incentive. Nothing wrong with that the way I see it. In this case I think it is bit of both. I think there are cheaper ways of lifting a truck if looks are all that matters. So many of the backroads in Ontario are overgrown I highly doubt he would want to take on them and scratch up that beautiful pain job though.

It would be cool if he built it it up himself, but again, no reason to have less appreciation for the work if he didn't do it. The work was still done by someone. Also, if the design was his idea then he should get credit for that, since it is unique. Not everyone can be an expert at everything. Maybe building up trucks ins't his thing becuase he is good at something else - so he pays a shop to build it up. I am pretty sure people good at building up trucks are not good at something else and have to pay someone for some service or product...that is the way it works.

The work isn't less impressive per say, but you lose the cars personality. Watch the movie "Love the Beast" it backs my point. if you need it ill send u a copy.

Ya, I would hate for someone to ask me what I did and how it all works. Then you would have to respond with, "Uhhmm... I just payed some guy to do it:shrug:".

I think that is a great looking truck. Tough, original and yes, functional. Will it go crawling up a narrow mountain trail with multiple switchbacks? Of course not, but there's plenty of other terrain that it is more than suitable for. The only thing that I would say is silly is the towbar. It has to hang so low that it just looks completely out of place. But the rest of it, the paint job, the bumpers, the long arm suspension, the tires, they all look really good.

I've got a copy of that film but have not had a chance to watch it just yet. I am really looking forward to it though...
