Montana!

Gallatin County Open Land!

Best looking plate and the $25 donation as part of the license fees goes to a great cause.

Montantna has a low bar to allow groups to have license plates to raise money for their group so there are a ton to choose from. The cost for licensing custom plates is also cheap, so no reason to stick with a boring standard plate.

Wow, thanks. I found these:

Moving to Montana next month. Which plate do the locals usually choose?

most folks mock the blue plates. i would guess about 75% of folks choose a "donation" plate design for whatever their interests are. I had the trout unlimited ones for years (because I like the artist who did the design) and have generic ones now. Will probably go with one of the Yellowstone ones next time.

Ive been seeing quite a few nice runners around bozeman lately. Wondering if they belong to anyone on here.
Silver 3rd gen with arb bumper lift and black rims. Saw it headed towards livingston on i90 today around 7:30
Quicksand trd pro with a rtt. Saw it at 7th and oak yesterday.
Silver 4th gen with a rtt. Seen it all over town. Most recent on monay around 6 by the highschool.
Green 3rd gen with bfg km2's and a pretty sizable lift. Saw it at the intersection of oak and 7th around noon today

This is me, white 3rd gen with custom bumpers and swing our, roof rack, lots of lights and of course a TRD sticker for am extra +5hp! I have seen a couple of those Riga I think but don't know who they are.

I personally get the paid for plates but if I was to get a standard I would NOT get the blue one. Personally think it's ugly but I know there are a lot with it. I have seen both a lot. I used to have the Rockey mountain elk foundation plate cause my family is a part of it but just recently get the miles city place cause it was the first black plate to match the black and white color scheme. I would say look through the paid ones for sure because there are a lot of really cool ones and they are cheap.

For anyone moving to MT, be prepared for your insurance rates to go way up. Montana has the second highest car insurance rates of any state. They could possibly double.

Everything is spread out in Montana, roads can be dangerous in winter, and Montana has high speed limits. Montana does have relatively low numbers of uninsured motorists though.

Let's get this thread going again, I'm a forest green 4runner cruising around in the billings area soon to have a nwti front bumper on it! Hope to see some replies

You guys interested in doing a meet up maybe sometime soon in Bozeman?

We have the supercharged thundercloud sport on 33s.

I also have a buddy that lives in Bozeman, he has a 97 green SR5, bumper, winch, and supercharged with locker.

Huh this is cool. I didn't know this section existed. Guess need to explore the forum a little more. See allot of good looking rigs around Bozeman. I'd be intreasted in some kind of meet up. This weather makes me want to get out and go camping.

I would be game for a meetup sometime!

I am still not locked, have a hard time justifying an arb when I only run trials a limited amount of weekends and finding a elocker that I want to swap is rough along with debating about doing that much work, and an aussie is nice and cheap but I don't want to ruin my tires as it is my DD. So all that to say I have a bit of a mall crawler as it looks like it can do more than it can haha! I can build bumper so they are cheap but I can't build a locker.

Is the montana forum still alive?

This would be a good spot to keep connected for parts, questions, and local adventures/meetups.
I just got my first 4Runner, 97 Evergreen Pearl, 4x4 automatic. Some front end damage so I'm looking for parts to piece it back together. It's got 214k now and it's been super reliable for the 2+ months i've owned it.

Welcome! And it is alive at times, not too much happens here but I check it every so often.
