MOOG Coil Help

Ok, trying to determine if there is no hope with MOOG or if they just put the wrong coil in the box.

Installed on truck and lift is insane. Like at least 3" and I already blew an axle boot.

I found someone elses picture here of a FJ spring.

I ordered the moog 81108 springs for the front. The box was new and the lable on the box was matching.
The springs look way more tightly wound in the picture above and have 10 coils on the driver's side. The pictured appears to have 8.

Any thoughts on how to resolve?

What shocks?

Did you contact Moog?

Did you put the spring seats on the shocks upside down? It's been done before and results in "crazy" lift heights. It's also dangerous as it can lead to the snap ring (if you're using 5100's, that is) coming off the shock body = suspension collapse. Bad juju! Try to get pics up...

This has the Moog springs FJ 2008 4wd replacement. 5100 all around with fronts set on 0.85. No spacers. Tires are 265/70r17. Do have spider 1.5" spacers.

It sure is. That's what I suggested might be the problem in our PMs except I just said the coil wasn't sitting down in it correctly. I can see why one might make that mistake though
 
Yep, upside down. I'd get that fixed before I drove on it anymore. I saw on the tundra forum driving with this condition led to the front shocks collapsing. With the spring seat in the correct position, you'll see that it completely encloses the snap ring, thus keeping it from popping out of whichever height setting you chose. I don't know how many people had a similar kind of failure, but just making you aware of the potential risk. Good luck....

Oh and BTW, Mine is set at 1.75 (#3) and I have 1.5" spring spacers on the rear. I basically have the stock rake (which I wanted), and I had no issued getting my alignment (e.g. caster settings). If you are just using rear springs without spacers then the .85 setting is likely what you need. There seems to be some variation on the height results, but with brand new springs, I wonder if 1.75 would leave you nose high...

Ahhhhhhh

All fixed. Now to have the alignment done again! Love how it came out. If it settles over time, I do have a Daystar 1.5 for the back, but was worried that would be too high.

Me and my brother [MENTION=126962]Sway[/MENTION] just did his 05 and we almost did the same thing with his truck.. Had us baffled but then after checking my truck, we realized we'd been tryin to put the bucket upside down.. After we figured it out, the passenger side took us like 30 minutes lol..
 
Yeah, not easy to install upside down but it can be done. Easy to install correctly. I think it took me like 1.5 hours to flip both around.

Love the setup now!!

I thought the original install looked kinda sketchy. I was a bit uncomfortable that snap ring could hold all that load. Seeing a cup helps hold the ring closed makes me feel much better than before where it was just an exposed ring! :frusty:
