MOOG EV80379 - Inner tie rods

I purchased all new inner tie rods and ends from Rockauto. I made the mistake of installing the first side with out checking all the parts first. After I finished the driver side I realized the other inner tie rod was a different, but “compatible” part. My theory is I received one part from new stock and another from old stock. The first one looks like the newest model and was marked “555” on the chrome piece. The second one was all black and looked to be from older stock. I sent this back with a note saying I would like one to match the inner tie rod already installed. My replacement came today and it is different from the two that came in my first box. This one is also all black, but the MOOG logos are positioned differently. The hardware packages are slightly different from the first part I installed also.

I again contacted rock auto and they said all these parts are all interchangeable and they can’t guarantee I will ever receive matching models... I would sure like to have matching inner tie rods. Am I making a big deal out of nothing, or should I try to source the matching inner tie rod? Please see pictures.

Return them and go with OEM.

Too many reports of premature wear and failure of sub-par replacement suspension components.

I would have loved to, but not in the budget right now. I got all the MOOG parts and new rack bellows for ~$100. OEM would have been a lot more.

Moog rebrands lots of parts to sell and sometimes it changes who they come from over the years. From what I've read the 555 part is actually a decent quality japan made part. That being said the 555 marked "moog" inner tie rods I put on my 4runner, one got too loose at 50k miles but the boot was full of water. The other's still kicking.

As mentioned OEM is the best! I put a used OEM inner tie rod to get me though and it's now got over 100k miles total on it.
