the dog looks annoyed that the turkeys are in a higher position than he is.

i tried to do the drive hunt the other day. turkey was too fast, and it was too nice of a neighborhood to tear up anyones grass.

They were both Toms one was 16.5lbs. the other was 17.5. Probably dress out about 12-14 lbs.

We are allowed to use dogs during the Fall Turkey season in Iowa. One was my buddies Griffon and the other my Pudelpointer.

Turkeys, being a member of the Pheasant family, will hunker down in grassy cover just like a Ringneck Pheasant and will hold for a point. We hunt them right along with pheasants, but you are allowed only 2 tags per season and the tags are very hard to come by. Only 150 tags were sold in our 6 county area this year. My hunting buddy filled his 2nd tag this morning with a 12 lb. Jake. I had a chance at another nice Tom to fill out but came up short.
