i see the write ups on the Wrangler Duratracs and the Firestone destinations i'm a little curios about the debates i've seen so far.

So as a current owner of the destination A/T's i'm VERY disappointed in the A/T's... poor traction in the wet, not so good in the snow (but not terrible either), decent for what they are in mud. I'm only half way (or close) ~35k miles, through the tires treads, and their traction on-road has fallen off a cliff!!! spinning at stop signs for christ sake! (no i haven't taken them off road recently).

So i've read many wonderful things about the Wrangler Duratracs, some people have said they predicted up to 60k miles out of them! and doesn't terribly affect MPG either... so how many people have gotten 50k or more miles out of their Duratracs?

Eek...I almost bought the destinations but I think Im leaning towards cooper's right now even though they seem to have a few issues of their own.
 
I have the Duratracs, load D. Zero complaints so far. Have yet to test them in snow but I'm sure they'll do great. They perform great on wet or dry pavement, and I also took them off road in mud and sand (without airing down) and they were great.
 
a couple of people are vigorously defending the BFG A/T's on other write ups too,they've made some good arguments too, and lots of other reviews say that the BFG A/T's are excellent for what they are meant to be.... just not super serious off road orientated so don't expect that from them and they're perfect 99% of the time, right?

but they are at least 50$ a piece more then the Wranglers too soo... i guess you get what you pay for!

I swear by my BFGs. Both the A/Ts and KM2s. Ive owned them in 31,33,and 35. Got arnd 50k on the 35s and they were mounted on a full-size truck. Currently running 31A/Ts on my 88RNR and 33KM2s on my 85 Hi-Lux. Ive owned Goodyears, Michelins, and Firestones. Never again.
 
My GYSA's were about as ok a tire there ever was, neither good nor terrible at anything, just ok. My new Cooper Disco AT3's have about 3k on them so far and they are noticeably better onroad (less noise, less sidewall roll, and "smooter" ride). Offroad they are as good as you can ask for from any A/T and on the greasy wet roads of SoCal they are very surefooted. I have pretty high expectations for the snow as well due to the greater number of sipes and more pliable rubber compound. Some have had issues balancing them and mine did take a pretty good amount of weight. They ride pretty good, I may road force balance them if they start to wobble. Happy with them so far.
 
I had GYSA on my old rig and got the Coopers a couple weeks ago, and my initial impression is also that they are much smoother on road. Only played in some light snow so no real test there but from other's reviews they are great in the snow.
 
those KM2s look a bit more aggressive then i'm after, although i bet they'd defiantly do the job! my driving is at least 90% on the road, so i'm leaning towards the BFG A/T's as of all the testimonials on here, and good info and videos on youtube of all the people that use them...

good info though, and i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one with problems with the Destination A/T's, they started out great, but have turned to crap IN A HURRY! certainly am glad i got them on sale else i'd be way more pissed off then i am now.....

guess i'll have to start paying attention to the Less Schwab fliers again.... or does everyone just get them online now a days?

i wouldnt buy anything from les schwab... they are a rip off, either online or discount/americas tire

wow, ya i'd say that's a good price 759$ shipped to me, how did you get these sent to a "local dealer" for free? who's a local dealer / installer for these things? I live near Portland Oregon if that helps somehow....
 
I have run the BFG A/Ts and they did great on and off road. I don't do mud but I would guess that they would pack up. I'm now running Yokohama at-s. they are awesome. Much better than the bfg, on and offroad. They just look too plain. I'll probably go back to the bfg or try the DTs. I do sipe my tires which makes a huge difference in the snow and ice.
 
I am in the mud somewhat when i go off into the hills, but i'm by no means up to the axles in mud... at least not recently.... since i drive her mostly on road the tires need to be focused on being able to handle non-dramatic conditions of the tarmac more then a 'super swamper boggers' focus.....
