Mosquito Pass 8-10-12

Last week I took a few days off and decided to go play over in Fairplay/Leadville area of Colorado. These photo's are from last Friday when I ran Mosquito Pass.

Once I got closer to Leadville I made a slight detour to a mining area that I saw when descending down from the pass and couldn't help but look. I believe this area is off of county road 13 and 38 or something like that.

After getting my fill of checking this area out it was on to Leadvill to grab some gas, air up the old tires and grab a Rockstar Zero which I had been craving the entire trip before heading on out. I had originally planned to head over to Schofiled Pass/Devil Punch bowl in the afternoon but the weather had turned kind of nasty and from the reading I did before the trip suggested not to take pass when wet. I heeded the warning and decied to head on back to Colorado Springs and relax for the rest of the weekend.

Great stuff, smallfry! It's a shame you didn't get over to Devil's Punchbowl--that's one on my list of must-see's (and obviously, must-drive!). Love the pics. Ever think of doing Mt. Antero and the nearby Brown's Lake? That's another one I've been wanting to do--just sounds cool from the guidebook description, especially camping and fishing at the lake. Keep up the exploring!

nice shots-there is a nice little spur road right by the North London mine that can have pretty deep water crossings in the springtime.

The colors up there seem particularly nice this year...

great shots! looks like a good little trip. I'm new to the Springs and a new perminant CO resident. I am trying to do at least one trip to a new spot a month, figure it's a good way to get out and see as much as I can. If you ever want a second and I'm off work, I'd love to tag along!
