Most desireable T4R year between 99-04

I currently have a 2011 Trail and have owned about 5 T4R since 98. I am asking for help to know a good year or years between 99 and 04. I am hoping to be able to use this site to better understand the forums opinions on the different generations.
I would also like to know if I do consider to sell my 2011 would posting it on this forum be a good choice.

YES SIR...i must agree!! however i would make sure it had an E-Locker! I MEAN MAKE THE PERSON U BUY IT FROM SEND PICS BEFORE YOU DRIVE 500 MILES ONE WAY TO BUY IT!!...just speaking from experience! LOL....but i guess thats why they make wrenches LOL!! oh and women drivers!! LOL cause without them we wouldnt have junkyards!!

I like hearing that you favor the 99. I foolishly went through 5 T4R since that year and now I am realizing if I stayed in mine it would still be a great car and I would have saved a ton of money on what I have spent buying newer ones.

99-00 limited AT

The 99 limited apparently has the most ground clearance from the factory, according to a guy that went around measuring 100s of trucks and compiling a list of the measurements on his blog (can't remember the website).

The same truck also comes with the factory rear E-locker, and the rare/unusual locking center differential.

I think the 1999 and 2000 limited w/elocker is the ultimate 4runner. I searched high and low until i found a 2000 limited w/ elocker.

the 1999 highlander edition would be even slightly better, because of the slightly higher springs.

I'll say the 2000 Highlander just because that's what I have. Cosmetics aside though a few upgrades will put any 3rd gen on the same level (or better) than the Highlander trucks left the factory.

The 99 and 2000 have better ABS and don't have the traction controls the the 01-02s have, that are not very good. The Sport and Limited have larger front brakes.

nailed it! winner winner chicken dinner! the reason i looked for 99-00's only. i loved the 01-02 tails and grill but that was an easy fix.
