motor swap

i did a motor swap on my 4 runner with a motor out of a tacoma. i had to use my intake cause my 4runner had a few more electrical plugs in and i wanted everything to work correctly. so i'm all done with it and the truck starts up as soon as you touch the gas it shuts off... there is a high pitched noise coming from where the throttle body is and even makes the noise when its shut off but the key is still on. if you open the throttle up it makes another noise... so i let it idle for like 5 min to get a check engine light. scanned it and these are the codes i got. p0100,p0110,p0115,p0120,p1120,p1135 and p0101 in that order. i don't know where to start. lol. i do know that sometimes vehicles will throw more than one code when something else is failing in the system. so i'm at a lost as to where to stop. the motor out the tacoma ran great. i drove it for like a month at the race track using it to pack the track. lol

yea went out and looked and they all hooked up... still making that noise and not wanting to run correctly

Possibly, but the long block itself should be the same. If everything external to the motor is swapped from the original motor the original ECU should work just fine.

What year Tacoma, and what year 4runner? Maybe there were more changes between the two than you found and you missed swapping something needed.

Although for the codes you are throwing, I'm inclined to agree with Singtoe that you have a bad ground, or no possibly power. I would check at least a couple of those mentioned sensors pigtails to make sure they have proper power and ground.

the tacoma was a 99 and the 4 runner is a 2002. everything plugs up in the same spot once i swapped the intake over. the 4 runner had 2 plugs in by the throttle body where the tacoma only had one. someone said that was for the cruise control to work. other than that every thing is plugged in and its just running funny. if you unplug the sensor in the front of the throttle body is stops making the noise. when its making the noise with the key on like after the engine stalls if you hit the gas pedal it makes a different strange noise. so... on the 4 runner there's only 2 grounds. one grounds to the drivers side bottom of the motor by the oil pan and the other is on the passenger side firewall that bolts to the back of the head. both have good clean contacts. the gas is about 2 months old but the 4 runner has been inside my shop since i started the swap. i'm wanting to drain the gas or since there isn't much in it just add 5-10 gallons of fresh fuel but don't think that is the problem?

There is a wire harnes ground on the intake manifold. Next to the DATA port.

Make sure it is clean and tight.

Not positive on the Tacoma year by year, but I know the 4runner gained drive by wire throttle body on the 01-02. That is why it lost the normal cruise control unit found on the 96-00. Are you using the throttle body that matches the ECU? or did you use the older throttle body?

yea i didn't count the ground on the drivers side intake. the connector is black and its kinda in the middle and then there's another one on the back side of the intake and it's also black and there's another connector underneath it and its gray. i can't get over the crazy noise its making. to describe it it sounds like there's an electric motor like a fuel pump running under the hood... even though i know the fuel pump is in the tank. like i said it idle's ok not perfect and then cuts off as soon as you touch the pedal. i've done several engine swaps on different cars and i race a circle track dirt car and do all my own work. so to say it lightly this 4 runner is driving me nuts.... lol to answer another question i used the original intake that came off the 4 runner on this tacoma motor cause the tacoma motor had different exhaust and different intake hook ups.

i have. this thing is driving me nuts... and to just start changing sensors is expensive! and crazy lol

i got it running perfect thank god. lol. it was the temp coolant sensor. borrowed a computer from a friend of mine shop and it was showing that the water temp was -40 degrees so i changed the sensor and cleared the code and it started rite up. missed for about a min or 2. runs like a clock now. went ahead and changed the plugs and wires and fuel filter. got some fresh gas in it and drove it about 50 miles today. planning on driving it to work tomorrow to see how it does. i work 63 miles from where i live. thanks for the help guys. it'll be for sale soon...
