Mounting DL's on front bumper?

Guys I'm looking to mount a set of lights on top of the front bumper and wondering from those who have done this,

are they pretty ridged? do they shake when driving?
how well does the plastic hold up?

I'm kinda sad about drilling holes thru the plastic but I don't want a bull guard, or a iron bumper, just a little bit of light cruising in the mountains.

this is where I'm thinking, and the lights I wana mount.

these have a bit of weight to them too

thanks for the input

Get 1/4 inch L-iron and make a U-shape bracket. Mount it to the front metal bar that lies in front of the AC condenser through the lower valence opening. You can then mount your lights to a solid metal frame.

What he said. I had two 6" lights on the bumper of my Taco and they were great. Just tighten them down well and maybe use some loctite so the nuts don't vibrate loose and you should be good.

Take a look at where you need the holes for the lights to be spaced far enough from the grille. That top plastic is covering a thin sheet of metal. From the bottom side there is an edge of another piece of thin metal.

I had 2, 7" Hella 500FF's there and they worked but they are light and I used huge washers on the top and bottom because of the 'pieces' of metal that the holes were in or part of. Basically I drilled a hole and there was metal but it wasn't too thick and in one of the holes only half of the hole was in the metal that was supposed to hold the light.

A piece of angle iron will give a nice piece to bolt to but not help much with shaking if you have any.

I have mine mounted on top of my bumper without any support bracket and mine are fine. They don't flop around at all.
