So I had a nice little gift show up a few day's ago. A Gentex Auto dimming mirror with Temp and compass.

Here is my problem- I have not been able to find something that will hold the wedge to the glass that is strong enough to hold this thing up with out shaking all over the place when on the windshield. I have tried two different types of 3M double sided tape and that is no good because of the flex. I tried the O'Reilly kit and it was garbage.

Should I go to an apoxey or something. Super Glue? It has to hold the wedge in the mirror and be able to have the set screw go into the wedge.

Someone who is good with glass help me on this one.

you know they sell rear view mirror glue? ive done a few mirrors for my vehicle and friends. a kit is a few bucks and works great. i got mine at oreillys

I used that one and it was crap. I took the parts back and showed them. They gave me the 3M heavy duty double sided tape and that sucked too.

You have to make sure the glass and the wedge are clean. I mean very clean not glass cleaner I use rubbing alcohol. Something that will clean dry and not leave a riseadue. Paper towels leave lint behind. I had good luck using alcohol and a razor blade. Good luck
 
Scraped it all off with B-12 carb cleaner. Shit came right off! The wedge is drying now. Just have to get a good glue to hold this Fing thing in place.
 
I'm unsure of how it will look, but you could likely use 2 part exopy mix with some quiksteel to tack it in place. Would be permanent for sure.

With my stock, it was pretty damn loose but when i took off the cover to tighten the screws i sheared some of the mount spring things off.. so i just got a 2 part plastic "welder" and that thing is rock solid now.

I use this and never had one fall off, Just follow instructions completely. The main reason I have seen these type of kits not work is most people use to much glue.
 
Yeah,

For about 30 seconds. When I adjusted it, off it came. I'm done with the cheap stuff. I'm going Apoxy next. Tired of messing around. Pissed me off really.
 
Did you end up trying the Permatex? We use that for older Mercedes Benz mirrors after windshield replacement. The glue holds and the mirrors can get to be heavy.

Good stuff for sure.

I used it and it was it sat up fine. I put the thing on set the screw. I adjusted it and it fell right off. I was not thrilled. When I looked at it the coating on the wedge was peeling off so I think that was part of the issue. I sanded it down, cleaned it real well and used that stuff and it is hard as a rock now. I also used some silicon also to help the joints so it would adjust easy.
