mounts for roof rack flush to the roof

I am looking for you 3rd gen guys that have found a way to securely mount your Coleman or other roof racks to sit flush with the roof.

If I mount to the factory crossbars I am too tall to fit in my garage.

I want to remove the factory cross bars-use the 4 ribs to protect the roof surface but have the rack sit down against the OEM rails.

Someone has done this right? Can you tell me what to buy?

Super Glue? I honestly have no idea, thats a very good question. Good luck though.

other than going either yakima or thule to replace your crossbars to sit lower im not sure what to do. perhaps a way to sandwich the roof rack in-between the factory cross bars with some kind of mounting bracket .

Its 60 here again today and 4 days straight so I'll just set it in place and try to fab something up.

I can use the front crossbar but even my Coleman rack is too long to fit between the two crossbars-the back one will have to come out . It seems like it shouldn't be that hard to match to the thread for the screw ins for the ribs-I may have to give up a rib or two-it won't be touching them anyways.....hmmm let's see.

okay i know with my rack i have the yakima roof rack and it came with plastic "C" clamps to hold the fairing so it can flip up and down perhaps you can use that on the sides to go in the rib holes with some kind or hardware haha i see it in my head but i have a hard time explaining it.
