Moving to the Valley of the Sun (in my 5th Gen)

Hello.

So, I'm relocating to the Phoenix metropolitan area in the next couple of months, and I'll be taking my 5th Gen 4Runner with me (hence, this thread is relevant to the 5th Gen Forum).

I've only spent a few days there total, so I'm curious if anyone has suggestions on places to live, places to avoid, things to do, etc. I'm looking to buy a house, and I'll be working near the east end of the valley (mostly) in Mesa. TIA!

Thanks! I actually looked at where you live on a map, and I'm definitely looking to be away from the city if possible. What would the commute to Mesa be?

I am about 15 minutes from Mesa. Houses are going super cheap out here as well if you do not mind being in a subdivision. How many sq ft do you need?

I have traveled to AZ a lot on business. In the Phoenix metro area, Scottsdale is the place to be.

Northern AZ has fantastic outdoor experiences. :driving:

I lived in Scottsdale for awhile. I had to get out of there, completely full of $30k a year "millionaires". You could not pay me to go back to that **** hole.

@Mick1 - I agree! I'm usually the only white guy around, and having more than one is confusing for me, too. I have been looking in Scottsdale since it has been recommended by just about everyone I talk to about moving out there.

I am at Ironwood and Ocotillo, much closer than where it is probably leading you too. I am barely in San Tan Valley.

As for the Scottsdale recommendation, ask people who actually live here LOL. Scottsdale is full of douchebags in most parts. If you are into night clubs, hanging with people that say brah and wear fox racing gear when they don't ride, have used BMW's and live in their parents basements then it is perfect. You, however, do not strike me at all as that type.

I'm not a fan of the East Valley, simply because I get horribly lost past 32nd Street.

I love it up in Peoria though and I miss being home all the time. Probably the furthest east I've been is out a Saguaro Lake. Really nice boating out there in my humble opinion.

Saguaro is awesome. I go out through Butcher Jones and have picnics with my daughter in the second and third coves.

The first cove gets busy, but I have never ran into another person in the second or third coves.
