I'm confused. So are you saying they make a RWD version of the 4R in LE trim? Even if it's not configurable on their site? I didn't read the entire thread so could you give me the cliffs notes version? :help:

I'm averaging something like 19.6 lifetime with Cooper ATP's which are E rated(heavy), and we drive something like 60/40 city/hwy. My computer underestimates my millage by .3 almost every time. I reset on every fuel up,and I track it the old fashioned way as well as with the computer. It's good to know that in a pinch I can go off the computer numbers without worrying too much. Keep in mind that the engine in the Runner is much bigger and it's mated to a vehicle that weighs a lot more. Making a 4Runner feel the same around town as a 3.0 Outback is going to cost a ton more fuel. Modern engine tech and physics don't lie: more weight and more power = more fuel for the same application.

here was one of my weekly posts, the 1st format was the beginning format and later on the new format since I was running out of room to track it weekly. I did this up to sometime in jan-2014.
edit : it may not be available to build depending on your zip code/region. if you do the SE Toyota you can build 4x2's, up north nope.

Mine has just over 600 miles on it and its sitting around 15.5 - 16 mpg on the display... and thats with babying the hell out of the throttle.... trying to keep the green ECO light on at all times as much as I can....
How is 23 mpg even remotely possible? Do u drive down hill both ways and behind a semi truck? LOL :biggrin1:

The only way to get 20mpg+ @ 75mph is flat roads and no wind, or having a tail wind. If you have hills it will be more like 17-18 with good conditions.
Winter gas just hit my tank and my consumption worsened by 1mpg. Usually get 17.17.5 day-today. Computer is showing 16 right now.

correct. Just did a over 10 000 mile road trip around the USA, and mostly going 75 MPH, 20MPG is not very likely except on exceptional sunny, warm days with no wind and absolutly no hills, then you might get to 20 MPG at those speeds.
To get the 21 to 23 numbers, you must drive a high percentage of your daily route at 45-60 mph... then it gets possible.

What did you manage to get on your trip?
I got my computer reading as low as 11.2L/100km (21mpg) when I drove from NB down to Washington DC. I never reset it from Saint John, NB to DC and from Bangor, Maine I took I95 the whole way down except I93 thru Boston. Computer hit 21mpg as I got down past Baltimore. By the time I was back up north of Boston, the computer was back down to 20mpg due to stops, traffic, etc. I95 is very flat with occasional gentle hills/crests. My usual cruising speed was 75mph. Got up to 80 a couple times south of NYC, and down to 65-70 if traffic/cop presence required.

Got 13L/100km overall. On that, I estimate around 1L/100km due to the nights I slept in my truck leaving the engine running for A/C or heater. So around 12L/100KM or 20 MPG for the whole trip, going most of the time 75MPH.

That is an epic road trip! I would say that is a great average considering lots of idling, not to mention other likely detours, mountains etc.
I have to ask:
1)Why the road trip? Retired?
2) What do the hash marks represent?

1- Because I love the US, feel like it's a beautiful place with so much to see, with a vast variety of sceneries. Also, I am 33, single and happened to have 1 month of vacation
2- the hash marks represent the route I expected to take but I didn't. I made up the route like 2 days before going and improvised the rest.
That really was a great adventure. Got more social interactions in 1 month than 3 years in here.
The 4runner did the job 100%. Slept in it (with a inflatable mattress powered by the 110V plug, very fast inflation), gone through the hottest climates I've ever seen, the highest above sea level, the truck always performed brilliantly
. While in the long stretches, the truck was often running 24H non-stop.Here is a link to my photo album:

I get 17.1 avg - I do drive it 70+ on regular with about 70% HWY. If I drive like my grandma I get 20.1

In my '14 LE with about 3,000 miles I average mid 18's. I have the same commute every day and have measured 8 times, and I get between .75-1.00 mpg better with 93 octane vs. 87. This MPG gauge is the most sensitive one I've ever seen when it comes to idling. I believe it is also the most accurate I've seen. I regularly shut the engine off at stop lights when I know I just missed my turn. It does make a major difference at the pump when I avoid unnecessary idling. The gauge is usually within .10 MPG on my favorite pump at my favorite station. I think it's incredibly accurate. Just make sure you reset after every fill up.

When it was new I cared and noticed it needed to break in and the mileage climbed into the advertised range.
To be honest I have no clue what my mileage is now. I figure when it's near E I need gas, the faster I get to E the more fun I'm having. Whether it's from miles or smiles.

I see those mostly on the fuel efficient models. my daughters rav4 has it and I've seen it come out on the prius first I think.
but oddly that looks like a 4runner SR5/TE dash I think.
