Hey guys,
I'm trying to work out what tires I want to put on my rig next. It's almost time. So I've been running Nitto Mud Grapplers in 35/12.50/R20 seemingly forever. But, my life doesn't allow for nearly as much off-road time as it used to. I'm thinking I may be able to save some money by going with a set of 325/60/R20 A/Ts like the Toyo Open Country A/T or the Nitto Terra Grappler A/T. I've already got 2 new Mud Grapplers sitting in my room (I'm in college), so I only would need to buy two more to have a set. But, I'm thinking if I can grab another set of wheels and put the A/Ts on, I could save gas running around and even going on trips to off-road adventures (Like the upcoming Uwharrie trip) and then swapping out for the rims with the M/Ts.
So my question is...what kind of MPG difference would there be between a 35" A/T and a 35" M/T? Enough to make up the difference for the new wheels over a few sets of tires? A new set of my wheels would be ~$800 + powdercoating. A new set of Toyo Open Country A/Ts would be ~$1700.
