MPG on your 3rd Gen?

That's the MPG sweet spot right there on mine.

80km/hr on Cruise Control with OD and LockUp sitting at about 1600 RPM.

Mine must have lower gearing. I don't recall exactly but think 80 is >2K rpm on mine in 5th. I usually set the cruise for 90.

Wow. My 3rz is different. I can't use 5th until over 90km/hr or I am lugging it. Mine seems to get best at 100-110 which is where it likes to roll in 5th gear.

10.82 l/100 or 21.74 MPG for the 44,300km I have driven it.

On this tank 17.1 according to my ultra gauge. But normally its around 18.5.

Has anyone else in CA noticed a steep drop in MPG's this summer? I used to get around 16 or so with mostly city driving, and this year myself and others have noticed a drop, now I'm at about 14.9 MPGs

~21 MPG in my usual highway / city driving mix. 26 MPG cruising at 70 MPH A/C off. This is with stock 225/75/R15 tires, W59 5-Speed, 3RZ 2WD, stock ride height, just me in it.

Corrected, my truck gets 20 in city, up to 25 highway.

I use my scanguage for my MPG and corrected the speed it gets from a GPS app on my friend's phone when he was riding with me.

Best I've gas was about 22 highway. Over the years it has dwindled down to about 17mpg on th e highway and I have been working to get it back up. I've replaced plugs, cleaned throttle body and Maf, and replaced the pcv valve. So far I'm back up to about 19 highway. This past week I did a top end seafoam treatment (which actually improved my compression in 2 weak cylinders!) and did plugs and wires. We'll see how it goes.

I also have a p0440 code (evap leak) and am wondering if that will affect my fuel economy at all. Any thoughts?

Confirmed this morning 5th gear @80kms/hr = 1900 rpm. 90kms/hr=2100 RPM

I got 12.3 l/100kms on my last tank based on my fill up this morning.

According to Fuelly (gas tracker) my best is 20.2 and average 19.4 60% Freeway, but considering most of that is in NorCal traffic averaging 15 mph. Stop and go...

1997 SR5 4x4 with 270k
265/70/16 with 3.91 (I think)

This winter I'm averaging 17-19mpg. Best highway is 23. Worse highway is 19.

97 SR5 with 240,000 miles on engine and 267,000 on trans and chassis.

I've been on car forums for over 13 years and I've seen more than a few soaked charcoal canisters (not just 4Runners) and there have been several reported here but most people are clueless what caused their failure til some of us inform them of this. Many folks fill til they can't fill it anymore and the end result is it's bad for a reciruclating fuel system to be constantly subject to high tank pressures caused by overfilling.

It happens,it isn't a myth but it's not as common as the pink milkshake or LBJ failure but it happens so it's good to educate people on this since I've seen people fork over a couple three hundred bucks to replace the canister.

I honestly just thought I was getting bad gas mileage because the supercharger. Will my 7th injector kit, new plugs, and figuring out my high idle issue help?
