MPG readout adjuster update

If it consistently reads one or 2 mpg over the actual, why not just keep that in mind and do some basic subtraction when viewing the guage. This seems like a lot of trouble over nothing IMO.

True but I think Iowa did this just as a fun hobby project -- not because it was something he couldn't live without. Even though I haven't implemented his design, I'm still glad he posted it here. I think it's fairly cool to see the solutions people come up with.

Then again ... I'm a bit of a technology geek!

I just bought a brand new 05. I will test the mpg meter on my next fillup.

Please keep us posted. If they have corrected it in the 05, we may stand a chance of getting them to replace it in earlier models!

I bought a 2005 V8 about a month ago, and it now has 3,000 miles on it. The MPG meter tends to be as everyone else reports, about 1 or 2 MPG better than actual computed MPG. So it doesn't appear Toyota changed the MPG meter for the 2005 model.

Guess we'll just have to live with it being about 10% off. But I will still complain to my dealer next time I take it in - so as to have it on record.

My MPG meter was 2 miles over the actual mileage on my last tank. I got 16.9 mgp with a mix of city and freeway driving in the Los Angeles area.

I got 17.9 doing about the same. People are right when they said pretty much just subract 2 MPG. It is very good at telling you, however, just how big a lead foot you have. If you make a game of it to see how high you can keep it that is.

My 05 V8 has 2200 miles on it. The MPG display has ranged between .6 to 1.0 optimistic at fill-up.
