It sticks to anything especially plastic. Silicone won't hold lol. I used it on my headlight to hold my shroud on thinking it would be fine and it fell off in a week haha.

MTD- great build, I especially love the 4x bumper. I will likely be ordering one myself in the hoopless flavor in the near future. Just curious if you have any more info on the 4" fogs you used and the 3k hid conversion as well. I have a mini h1 6.0 retro 4300k and I want 3k hids for the fogs as well instead of halogen. Thanks!

Thank you sir, it is coming along. The fogs that I have are Blazers that I bought from the local farm supply store, but they also have them at O'reilly's auto parts.
The kit I have in them is a 35W VVME H3 HID Kit. I will not recommend any other brand of HID kit than VVME for offroad light conversions. I have had 10 of their kits and have never had an issue. The are a little more expensive than other eBay kits, but are totally worth it.
As far as fitment since the HID bulbs are longer I had to cut down a grommet and put that between the bulb bracket and the housing. Haven't had an issue with leaking or condensation.
To mount them I had to modify the mounting system a little and I can take pics if you want when I pull them to wire them up again.

Yeah sorry that's what I used for the headlight shroud too. Idk I am not impressed with it. I think a rubber based quick set 2 part epoxy would work better for that. I have some that I use for everything.

I finished tacking up my lid tonight and tomorrow after duck hunting I will weld it all together and get a couple coats of paint on it.
For a back yard job I think It turned out pretty good, and you can't beat the price. The one downside is that it is a little heavy... The plate steel for the top alone weighs in at about 120lbs. The good news is at this rate it should definitely be done for our little adventure next weekend!

I thought about it, but with my current setup I cannot weld aluminum, and cost was also a big factor. I will be building a new lid after I graduate and buy a welder that can do aluminium, but for now I am going to have to deal with it weighing a ton.

The lid is finished! I am working on mounting the hinges and Thule bars now, and I got quite a ways tonight. My tap that I am borrowing from my roommate though seems to be made out of mild steel and was dull by the time I finished the 2nd hinge. It was a cheap kit, but seriously?

Looking good man. What are your plans for the interior of the trailer? Also, what are you going to do about the weight? I don't know how much a RTT weighs but I can only imagine that the weight of it plus the weight of the lid will be quite abundant. Are you going to counter the weight somehow?

Interior for now since I am broke is just a bedlined storage area. In the future it will have a water tank, and partitioned storage.
The RTT is light compared to the lid... The steel alone for the top is 126 lbs not including the frame. I will be building a new Aluminium lid when I am out of school for now the stout steel lid will have to do. The trailer can handle it and after I invert a leaf spring I will build a bigger pack lol. I will be adding a gas strut in the near future though to assist in opening the lid, because I can barely lift it right now.

Just did the calculations for the gas strut rating I will need to lift my lid 20" open. Since the total weight is 184 lbs and I am mounting the strut ~30" up the lid. I will need at minimum a 200lb gas strut to lift it. That being said I would have to mount the strut in the middle of the tub for that calculation to hold true. To mount it at the front of the box I will need a 250 lb strut.

Weather this weekend didn't quite cooperate for our trip this weekend. Saturday morning we woke to about a half inch of snow with a rain mix following. We had plans for hiking hinting and fishing but since the weather outlook was bleak we decided to head to town for touristy things. We found an open house at cranberry bog and stopped for a tour. It was a gas and we had cranberry fever going on lol. Jackson county is beautiful though and we will do it again in the future!
