Muffler Pipe

Odd question - so in advance I apologize to whomever.
Ok, now that's done.
What is the size of the tailpipe? Is it the diameter, circumference? I found chrome for sale but one of them has me confused
The reason I ask is because I want to order a Chrome cover, however, when checking around I see different sizes (but claim they fit the 2010 4Runner.) Seems odd to me (maybe for the 4 or 6 cyl?). There is even one that advertises a size 3 1/5  - is there a 1/5 measurement?? I seriously doubt it but, hey, I have been known to be wrong on certain occasions.
Here are two links with end pieces (one has the 1/5 measurment...)
TOYOTA 4RUNNER RAV4 4 7/10 X 3 1/5" EXHAUST MUFFLER TIP : eBay Motors (item 280461995871 end time Mar-08-10 22:31:14 PST)
TOYOTA 4RUNNER AVALON 5 7/10 X 3" EXHAUST MUFFLER TIP : eBay Motors (item 300394574649 end time Mar-08-10 20:33:10 PST)

Thanks
Shawn

See ask and see that you miss the obvious answer - right on the page...
Have to get them welded on...hmmm
Ok - thanks for getting me stuck off stupid :roadkill:

I actually just installed that same tip yesterday, took about 10 min. It comes with 2 shims but I didn't need to use either of them.

Was there no welding required? Was it just a screw or clamp on?
Looking at options before ordering the $50.00 part.
Thanks
S

No welding required. I used the shims and the tip is help in very solid. $50 well spent.

I set mine right before the exhaust pipe trims down in diameter, so the shim or shims weren't needed. It's a pretty heavy duty clamp, 5/8" wrench needed to tighten it. The end of my exhaust pipe flares out a bit, maybe other's don't so that why the shims have been needed.

I used the 3A racing 62-2417 screw on $35 at pep boys.

Yep, those will work great and are pretty nice and are made for pipes 3 inches or less. I just went and measured the outside diameter of the tailpipe and it is 2 3/4 outside diameter for the last 4-5 inches. So any aftermarket tip will work that is at least 2 3/4 inches.

Yes, nice and saves a couple bucks. Now have to find a PepBoys or go online (online it is...)

So I measured end of tailpipe (as I notice it "flanged" out towards the end, last 4 0r so inches) and came up with approx 3" diameter - is this right?

Like to get a chrome cover but cannot locate one that bolts-on larger than the 2 3/4

Hey Shawn,
The exhaust pipe is 2 1/2" and flares to 2 3/4" the last 3-4 inches so you need a 2 3/4 " inlet or larger. Here is the one Ttown has on his .... Amazon.com: 3A Racing 62-2417 Stainless Exhaust Tip Slant Bolt-On Truck 3" Inlet X 9": Automotive
Just google " 3 inch exhaust tip" to find some more. You want the bolt on type.I'm looking for a black stainless one myself.
