At least Geraldo isn't as bad as Glenn Beck and his cronies...

don't know if you guys heard some of the neighbors calling 911 as well, you can hear the kid getting beat up, start screaming then gets shots , followed by silence, to me the tape almost sounded like an excution, if you can get it to play, judge for yourself, i heard this on the radio yesterday.

some neighbors calling 911 because of a commotion, this is not the zimmerman tape.

I don't get any audio in the link you posted, just an article.

Judging on the poll it appears we have at least 2 NRA'ed out racists on the board...

Easy with the term racists, please. Must it be thrown around so effortlessly? Do you know who voted No or anything about them? Is it plausible that it was a troll? What's life like for you guys that carry that word in your pocket ready to be used at a moments notice?

But since it's out there like that, are you saying white on black racism or Hispanic on black racism? Zimmerman was raised in a Hispanic family and culture from what I have read.

I don't believe it was strictly race based. Ya, Zimmerman mentioned he was black, and that these "a**holes always get away", but I think he would have done the same for a white kid walking down the street in the dark. Dude is a psycho with an authority complex who thought he was tough sh*t and ran the neighborhood.
I think he said "punk", not coon. I also think it was Martin screaming in those audio clips, not Zimmerman like the cops tried to say. Bottom line, the kid was murdered and Zimmerman should spend life in prison, if not given a hot lead injection beforehand!

I think it's interesting how they kept his gun but NOT his clothes. No evidence can be gathered from those clothes now

I also think he should have had to bail himself out of jail and been charged with discharging a firearm unlawfully or whatever they had to charge him with to hold him and question him in detail and keep those clothes---BTW...why the hell was he not drug tested and alcohol tested? Did he even have a conceiled carry permit? Who authorized him to represent the neighborhood with a gun?

Also, I believe he is saying "F__ing Coons" I grew up about 20 min from where he did in Manassas, VA and that's just typical speak in the South and Southeast in regards to Blacks...not right but used VERY often along with many other well known racial slurs

At the end of the day...I have to say if this were the other way around and in FL or VA or any South or Southeast state I guarantee the Black guy would have his A_S in jail until this was all sorted out, the clothes would be evidence along with the gun, he would have been drug tested, photographed and who knows what else and definitely all the info would be public long before a month had passed.

This really is a sad story. A young man lost his life for absolutely nothing at all. I'm a proud NRA member and believe in gun safety, training, standing your ground and protecting your home, but deadly force can't be authorized unless your life is on the line. Clearly this was not the case here.

God Bless the Martin family

That isn't innocent until proven guilty, though. That's we're gonna hold you until we can find something to charge you with. A very different situation altogether.

At the moment the cops got there---they saw a dead 17 yr old (minor)with a full sized grown man stradling him. The kid was lying face down and this Zimmerman guy was stradling him on his back---this is what was stated to my knowledge (maybe I'm wrong, but this was stated). The cops also had 911 operator info stating he had been told not to pursue the kid in any way. I call either of these a major problem and a crime and certainly enough to detain him and charge him.

Being proven guilty is for courts and jurors, not police officers to determine. He should have been detained, clothing kept, drug tested and had to bail out. He commited several crimes during this incident. He stalked a minor, assaulted him, made racial slurs while on the phone with 911 and then killed the MINOR and claimed he was protecting himself. If none of these actions warrant detainment and charges been brought...then tell me what does?

It doesn't matter about Black or White or Mexican in regards to the crimes commited and the actions that took place. Those were motivators or intentions. Regardless of motive or intentions he commited many crimes and should be in jail or at least should have been charged and had to bail out. People are booked for fighting, loitering, drinking in public, etc...but not killing minors?

I don't know about all that, but there absolutely were dropped balls by LEO on site. I'm sure somebody on site or at the precinct was responsible for the decision to let him go home. I'd like to hear what that persons thoughts/reasoning is. As far as the DA not charging him with anything yet, I'm still standing by the logic that there's other forces at play here. The whole thing is too odd to reason through. Perhaps this is to distract us from something else or this is someone's way to further stir the boiling pot we call race relations. Perhaps it is to further the dialogue of gun control or the castle law.

Have the FBI made any updates to their investigations yet?

One thing I have noticed is the media is really**** running with this story. I first heard about it on non-traditional media but it has blown up big time.

The police would have arrested Z if the evidence supported it. Or so I would like to believe. Now the police chief has stepped down and that raises its own set of questions.

One of the main reasons people are claiming the local LO are pieces of crap and probably racist is as follows:

Despite knowing that Zimmerman hunted down 17 yr old kid even after the 911 operator told him not to follow Trevon, and despite the fact that Z was not actually part of a neighborhood watch (self appointed leader of self created single man watch crew), the police didn't even investigate it as a possible homicide or manslaughter.

The cops also didn't try and find out who the kid was, records have now come out showing he was on his cell phone 3 minutes before the shooting occurred and told a girl he was seeing that he was being followed by a man in the truck and that he wouldn't run in his own neighborhood.

The cops never called the last dialed number, they never called the number marked home (if existed), the never did anything with the phone. They simply sent him to morgue as a john doe, and considered it a closed case. WTF.

Read the MotherJones article above. All the 911 tapes are out and linked. They are very disturbing / chilling.

:bat:

Z was either being a good citizen or looking for trouble. I don't know yet.
Like this poll says "based on what we know now".

This says it best, for the time being anyway:
Massad Ayoob » Blog Archive » GEORGE ZIMMERMAN AND TRAYVON MARTIN: WHAT WE DON

That's the most sensible opinion piece I've read so far. Thanks for posting. Didn't now the part about the next round not being chambered.

Was it self defense?

Witness: Martin attacked Zimmerman

ORLANDO - A witness we haven't heard from before paints a much different picture than we've seen so far of what happened the night 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed.

The night of that shooting, police say there was a witness who saw it all.

Our sister station, FOX 35 in Orlando, has spoken to that witness.

What Sanford Police investigators have in the folder, they put together on the killing of Trayvon Martin few know about.

The file now sits in the hands of the state attorney. Now that file is just weeks away from being opened to a grand jury.

It shows more now about why police believed that night that George Zimmerman shouldn't have gone to jail.

Zimmerman called 911 and told dispatchers he was following a teen. The dispatcher told Zimmerman not to.

And from that moment to the shooting, details are few.

But one man's testimony could be key for the police.

"The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: 'help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911," he said.

Trayvon Martin was in a hoodie; Zimmerman was in red.

The witness only wanted to be identified as "John," and didn't not want to be shown on camera.

His statements to police were instrumental, because police backed up Zimmerman's claims, saying those screams on the 911 call are those of Zimmerman.

"When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point," John said.

Zimmerman says the shooting was self defense. According to information released on the Sanford city website, Zimmerman said he was going back to his SUV when he was attacked by the teen.

Sanford police say Zimmerman was bloody in his face and head, and the back of his shirt was wet and had grass stains, indicating a struggle took place before the shooting.

Here's more:

Zimmerman was on the ground being punched when he shot Trayvon Martin - Charleston Charleston Conservative | Examiner.com

Last weekend in the city of Chicago alone, gangbangers slaughtered ten people and wounded another forty. The youngest fatality is only six years old. The youngest person wounded is only one-year-old. Many of the victim were pedestrians sprayed with bullets in drive by shootings. The national news has said nothing about this.

So why does one shooting in Florida warrant weeks of national news? Why has there been thousands of articles a day, for the last four days, about one single shooting?

Almost all of the news items about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin contains a combination of false statements, opinions presented as facts, transparent distortions, and a complete absence of some of the most relevant details. Almost all news items are written soley from the point of view of the grieving family. The media also fills their articles with outdated baby-faced pictures of Trayvon. Very few include that he was a towering 6'2” football player.*Is the media really reporting the news, or is this classic agitation/propaganda to advance a political agenda.

Literally thousands of articles contain at least one false statement in the first couple of lines. They usually read*"George ZImmerman, a white man," or*"shoot by a white man." Zimmerman is described by family as a multiracial Hispanic. His appearance is clearly that of a Latino/Mestizo individual. However, the media wants him to be white because that better fits the political narrative they are trying to artificially create. Many news articles have also claimed the neighborhood is*"mostly white." This is also a lie. The neighborhood is only 49% white. It is over half non-white.

*All the way back on February 27th, the local Orlando Fox station interviewed the witness who dialed 911. Almost none of the thousands of articles since have mentioned any of the details described by the witness. Some, however, have attributed false statements to this witness. On March 16th, the Sanford police department released new details to the Orlando Sentinel. Once again, these details have been ignored or changed by the media.

The witness reports that George Zimmerman was on the ground and Trayvon is on top of him punching him.
The witness says that George Zimmerman was screaming and yelling for help.
Police arrive and find Zimmerman bleeding on his face and the back of his head. He also has had grass stains on his back. All this confirms the story told by Zimmerman and the witness.
Police play the 911 tape for Trayvon Martin's father, who tells police that the voice screaming is not the voice of his son.
The neighborhood this took place in has seen a lot of crime. Would you be surprised to learn that there were eight burglaries, nine thefts, and a shooting just in the past year? In fact, the local homeowners' association reports that George Zimmerman actually caught one thief and aided in the apprehension of other criminals. The Miami Herald wrote about this on March 17th. None of the thousands of articles and cable news segments that came after, thought this was important.

In fact the Miami Herald goes on to interview neighbor,*Ibrahim Rashada, who is black. Rashada confirms that there has been a lot of crime in the neighborhood and indicates to the reporter that the perpetrators are usually black.

The media also characterizes Trayvon as a "model student." In fact, he under a five day suspension when the shooting took place. That is why he was staying at a house so far from his school on a school night. A laywer for Trayvon's family has blocked access to his school records. However, you have to do something pretty bad to get suspended for five days.

Now that you know the suppressed facts of the case, you can for form a better more balanced opinion. Maybe you still think Zimmerman was wrong to pull the trigger. However, I think you will come to the conclusion that the "mainstream" clearly is pushing an agenda. Even when they have to grossly alter and adjust a story to fit that agenda.

And perhaps evidence of media tampering? This guy thinks so.

Fox Tampa breaks silence on Trayvon shooting witness - Charleston Charleston Conservative | Examiner.com

Recently, I wrote about the media's handling of the Trayvon Martin shooting. I pointed out that on February 27th, the Fox station in Orlando interviewed the witness who called 911. The article I wrote has received tens of thousands of Facebook shares. It was also quoted at length in a recent AP article that is now syndicated all over the nation.

The witness tells the reporter that he saw Trayvon Martin on top of Zimmerman punching him. He says that Zimmerman is screaming and yelling for help. He tells the reporter that he gave the same information to police.

Since the Fox Orlando witness interview took place, there have been tens of thousands of articles on the shooting published. While some writers invented fictional statements they attributed to this witness, I have not been able to find a single mention of it until a few hours ago. Fox Tampa Bay, the sister station of Fox Orlando fnally aired the interview this evening.

The anchorwoman on Fox Tampa Bay describes the man as “a witness we have not heard from before,” even though the interview is twenty-five days old. Fox Tampa Bay airs the interview as if it had just occurred.

The anchorwoman on Fox Tampa Bay then reports, as I stated in my article, that police found Zimmerman with blood on his face and the back of his head. He also had grass stains on his back.

Since my first article on this subject I have received both a tidal wave of support and a tidal wave of hateful vitriol. I've been called every slur in the book. I believe that the popularity of my article is responsible for Fox Tampa Bay breaking their silence, and I feel completely vindicated.

I am going to acost John and then when I start getting my ass beat shoot him. Seems fair enough. It doesn't matter if that fat ass was getting his as beat or not, he started the confrontation, when you start one getting your ass beat can be part of the deal. You can't shoot someone and kill them then. Well, you can but you will be charged with murder.

Or not (yet) in this case.

That's true.

I just don't see how that witness changes the case at all. To me it supports Zimmerman being charged. He got himself into a situation as the first aggressor, starting getting his ass beat and then shot what we know as an innocent kid and killed him.

If you start a fight with someone and they start beating your ass, should you be allowed to use deadly force to win the fight which you started?
