Well the first thing you have to remember, hitting a tree is not like hitting another car. When you hit a car, the car absorbs a lot of the energy, depending on what part you hit. Also the car you hit tends to move away from you, even if in part the tires will slide on the pavement or even more on dirt.

Now that tree, it's not moving. All the energy is absorbed by the offending vehicle. The tree doesn't slide, doesn't absorb but maybe a sliver of energy.

That said, I'm thinking she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and got it up to 25 or 30. BAM!

Hard to believe there's no frame damage there.

But to answer the question, I'd say 20 MPH. She missed hitting the tree with the frame head-on and just hit the fender/support/radiator core support area which are all pretty thin sheet metal.

Still... $2k for that? They'll be lucky to get $1k.

Well, my driveway is almost 1/2 mile long, as it is also my runway. And has trees beside it in places.. so one could techinally hit a tree, hauling pretty good butt down a long driveway like mine.

I do love the effort put into the add though... looks like it was written by a 9 year old on a flip phone, while riding his bicycle. I know its CL, but people really could put in just a little more effort now and then.

I was gonna say this too. Some driveways are more than just 40-50 feet of asphalt.

Some driveways can practically be considered a road.

I would say around 15 mph to cause that kind of damage hitting a tree. And like a few already mentioned, driveways are often full of trees. Those driveways are everywhere where I used to live back in Wisconsin. Just dirt roads through the woods leading back to a house. There's no way that was any where near a 30 mph crash. My friend was hit directly into the side by an explorer going 35, and it completely demolished his car. It caved in the entire side of the car and sent him spinning through the intersection and into a fire hydrant. It shattered every window in his car and he had a pretty severe concussion. And as mentioned in a car wreck both vehicles neutralize the dame. A tree does not move.

Had that been at 30mph into a tree I bet the engine would be partly dislodged from the mounts, and the lady wouldn't have walked away from the crash without some bad injuries. Next time you're going 30 down the road image hitting an immovable object. I'd say that was a slow speed crash into a tree or pole. Nothing hard to believe about the ad

I think 30 is too high to guess. 15 to 20 MAX. 30 would have been way worse and caused airbags to deploy.

2wd runner that looks ragged out and busted...unless you need a donor for parts or something, I'd pass. Also, I'd hate to buy a vehicle from someone that writes an ad like that, hurt my head to even read.
