Oh man, that's painful!! I had my mechanic rule out everything else before I gave her up.

Just got the runner back. I'm very happy with the results. Just took her for a quick 10 mile ride, partly highway - I don't notice any real qualities in handling. If anything she feels more planted- although that might be psychological given that she feels bigger overall. Either way, I'm very happy with the result.

Yes, it's probably your imagination. My road manners felt almost 100% unchanged to me but maybe others are more sensitive. The only obvious thing to me was how much higher the car sat.

No, it was running great - consuming no oil. My mechanic felt 99% certain that the failure was related to the piston or connecting rod. Even in limp mode, she was shaking like crazy.
