Smelled gas at rear of Toy last two days in the hot weather. EVAP monitor still had not set. So I replaced old locking gas cap with a 10 dollar napa. EVAP monitor finally set.

This is a good sign 170 miles to half tank.
Ended up being 23mpg. Every tank has gotten better. 19.5-21.5-21.9-23mpg.
This was a good engine in the 96. It's proving its worth in this 97. Oil is honey brown with 1200 miles on it.

Sadly this is why my Saturn is my daily driver. At 270 miles id be on 1/4 tank in the Toy. Saturn is only at 1/2 tank.

Today and yesterday I finally installed the Kicker Speakers. 6 1/2 in front and I modified the factory rear mounts to accept 5 1/4. It sounds great.

Well, my shoulda coulda woulda just bit me in the Arse. My starter is going klick klick varoom.
I ordered the Victory Lap ND-36SOL from Amazon. I have 2 spare OEM starters. I'll replace the contacts on one of them and swap it out next weekend.
I must do a hub rotor assembly on my Cummins first. Dam things weigh at least 50lbs. Not looking forward to it.

The contact kit came today in the mail. It's done and all good. I removed the contact cover of the failing one and even though there's a reman sticker on it they were real thin.

Someone asked me about plans for the crank pulley holder tool I made. There is a drawing I used that I got the measurements for the holes from as well as a paragraph from a old Yotatech thread. Here is the paragraph:
Drill a hole at one end to 11/32", measure out to 2 7/8" mark and center punch that hole, and drill it to 11/32".
Now in the center between the two bolt holes, use a hole saw about 1 1/4" diameter, bore that hole. This is for the socket to fit through.
Only difference is I used 3/8" bolts and cut the heads off so the holes I drilled were one or two sizes larger than 3/8" (25/64 or 13/32)
The plans but note the hole spacing is the outside of both 3/8" holes not the center of them. Don't make your holes 3.27" apart or you'll be sad.

I've had this one in my E-Bay cart for a long ass time!
It only squeaks with the AC on high & not at all with the heat.
I have so many other things to do that take priority over this.

So Monday afternoon I took the puppy with me to the UPS store to ship some jeep parts to someone on BC. It was 90 outside and over 100 on the parking lot. AC was good on the drive. I let it run with AC on max for 20 min while I was inside. The AC was Luke warm when I got out. But ice cold after I started driving.
I'd figure if the clutch drive for the fan wasn't engaging and spinning at its correct speed I would have seen a hot engine at idle. The condenser fins are clean and I heard the compressor cycling walking to the toy. It had to be cycling on high pressure. May be ill get a new clutch drive for next summer.

All that driving has really got me thinking about finding a PT546-00160 "T10071" radio with the gps module in. I've already done the hard work to install the T1819 into it. It should be as simple as finding a radio with it and getting a gps antenna and install it.

You guys got some great deals and did a killer job on this one.
I'm still in shock that you managed to make that new Scion radio work (since everything these days has antitheft bs and weird super-specific connections). As well as the fact that the stock radio uses RCA's on the back... odd.
Forgive me if I missed it, but WHERE did you get that USB port that fits into the switch hole? Super clean!
