Looks not bad, but I still prefer what CBI has on the 5th and 3rd gen 4runners. The bumpers on those vehicles look great and flow perfectly.

Sometimes I feel like I need to get a 5th gen 4runner to get all the nice looking aftermarket parts! :frusty:

Still not going to give up locating a reputable fab company to build me a rear bumper.

I really want something identical to this bumper CBI made for my 4runner. Minus the storage box but instead put 2 jerry can holders in its place and mount the maxtraxx to the side of the jerry can holder similar to the video below.

You live in California isn't there an offroad shop on every corner? :lmao:

I've never seen a storage box like that on the outside. Talk about heavy though, only hoarders need that much storage.

Another option could be to build it yourself. Steel is cheap, buy a welder, learn a CAD software, and teach yourself how to weld. Then you can build it however you want.

Or take a grinder to the existing CBI bumper and chop the side plates down.

Have you considered Pelfreybuilt? They're here in San Diego, so relatively close to you. I'm considering chatting with them to see if they could do something for my 4Runner. Maybe if a couple of people showed interest . . .

Yes I contacted them twice already. They said they do not do custom work at this time.

I even said they can use my 4runner to design a production bumper for the 4th gen 4runners. Even told them they can have my 4runner for 2 months and take their time. They said this is a possibility but nothing was set in stone.

Seems like all fab companies are interested in making products for 5th gen 4runners and new Tacomas only.

Ain't that the truth. We're like the ugly step child of the 4Runner world.I can't even find a pre-made engine bay mount for an air compressor yet there are like 5 for the 5th Gen.

I will talk to Satin when I'm out there (Pelfrey) later this month.

Some of the engine bay mount stuff will work from a second gen Tacoma or fj cruiser. I know when I wanted a battery tray a Tacoma one worked for our 4runner.

Yes talk to Pelfrey to make a bumper for us. Make sure it’s dual swing out.

I have the first prototype of the NWTI, I helped push the owner to come up with a design and kept on him till he got it done... 80 R&D hours later...

There isnt much more that you can do to make the lines flow. the biggest thing that the 5th gens have going for them is there is more attachment of the rear bumper skin so you can trim a chunk off and the leftover doesnt want to fly off while driving down the road.

I like his because it keeps the clean look while adding functionality. I think the fabricator is looking to produce a mostly bolt on version and could easily adapt the design to a dual swing out.

I like that design, I've saved pictures of it for inspiration in case I ever get around to building one. I'm assuming someone will post up on here if/when a bolt on design is available?
