...and then there are codes after these 4 options. Copy the code that is in the dialog box next to IMG Code and then paste it into this box that you reply in.

Nothing has come close to the reliability of my 4runner. Thats why I love it as a DD.

Having owned two wrx's and having gone to many subaru meets, among spending many hours on nasioc, I think I might have a better idea why people buy wrx's and sti's. Its because they are incredible cars that will run with or beat many cars costing thousands of dollars more. An sti does many things far better than a s2k, and it costs less, carries more people and cargo, and excells in the snow, ice and rain. Oh yea and its much faster. Did I mention I love my 01 sr5 4runner.

Can we not get into this? You can spend $10k on a Civic or a 5.0 Mustang and beat the snot out of your STi. Who cares? Like I said before, you cannot compare modded cars. Out of the box, the STi is faster in the straights, put in some turns and the weight of the STi shows. Straights = STi. Handling = S2000. Being able to drop the top = priceless.

Oh, I'll also mention that the STi isn't that much faster in the straights. Sorry for the mag racing here, but the fastest time I've seen for the STi is 13.57@98mph. Fastest slip I've seen for an S2000 is a 13.66 (not sure of the MPH). But I'm not really into drags, so someone else can comment on this.

Honda s2k - 0-60= 5.8 1/4 mile= 14.2 @ 99.9mph slalom pretty close at 68.6mph figure 8 tied at 26.0 sec av. g's 0.71 vs.
Subaru sti - 0-60= 4.7 1/4 mile= 13.3 @ 100.1mph slalom 69.7 mph figure 8 26.1 sec and av. g's 0.70. A second difference 0-60 and 1/4 mile is pretty significant wouldn't you agree. Source: Motor Trend. The sti is not just a fast straight car. I never realized there were so many s2k lovers on this website, I guess I'll shut up now.

A $50 dollar boost controller on an STI does wonders for the 1/4 mile. I dropped almost a full second in the 1/4 from the same mod on my Eclipse and then I proceeded to eat my stock clutch (40k miles) in 3 runs.

S2000s are driver cars and require more driver participation (thus more fun) than an AWD car but AWD is nice for that margin of error in everday conditions.

My friend's SC'd Integra Type R was a handful for the inexperienced driver but once you knew the car it's one of the few stock FWD that you can actually rotate through the corners with predictability and a blast to drive and no computer assist outside of the ABS but even that could be turned off.

I think some cars just come with way to many electronic gizmos removing the driver from the equation more and more;I miss some of the pure sports cars but the S2000 is about as close as you can get for a reasonable price and the Miata MX-5 is nice too and about $10k cheaper.

Were those tests done on the same day? On the same track? If not, they can't really be compared. And that goes for the times I posted, too. Fact is, STi's are definitely faster. I wasn't debating that. I believe that the margins are closer than the times you posted. But I don't think either of us have any concrete evidence.

But, handling wise, the STi is definitely the inferior. Look at last year's SCCA Solo II results.

And it has been like that ever since the introduction of the S2000. (looks like the Solstice is getting some attention, too!). These results are from the same day, same track, same conditions, etc. All stock cars (by the rules, anyway).

And don't feel like you can't say what you feel. It's a public forum! BTW, I do like STi's. I respect them for what they are. I just have my own preferences, like you.

Again I might have read it wrong and I don't know that much about scca racing so correct me if Im mistaken. Your'e right for a drop top roadster it doesn't get much better than a s2k, it's just not my thing. I became addicted to the torque that a stock sti produces, let alone a modified one. The steering and handling aint to shabby too. I like the civic si's, you can't do much better than that for 20k.

You need to look at the "A-Stock" section. All the other sections are useless, as they are modified.

BTW, even half a second difference in auto-x is huge.

Your wife must be the luckiest gal in Washington. If I had that Blue Beast my wife wouldn't get near it. Heck, she curbed the front wheel on her Mazda6 the first month she had it......
